And if, when looking through these pages, you relive the hap- py days of yester years for just a while our efforts will not have been in vain. Thus, we present this book to youg may your hearts be lighter and your lives be happier for the memories it may bring. Your Editor I 44771-o ill - I W7 una er - nn , , - s , K s 5ffil75? ' h e that all your aims and ideals which you have acquired lt is our smcere op here may ' ' ur future life. be realized in yo l l ' 4' ig f L. R. SAWYER PEGGY ATCHLEY Superintendent Secretary MAY, 1951 The production of a high school annual is education in action. Our students each year take the responsibility for portraying graphically our entire school life in all its phases and for providing, in this form, a record for posterity. Our school adheres not only to the value of the mastery of the fundamental processes, but emphasizes, deservedly, such vitaltobjectives as citizenship edu- cation, character training, and the development of individual talents. This annual projects to the reader our enlarged concept of the 3 R's. The organization, detailed planning, coordination, business experience, weighing of values, exercise of judgment necessary in a publication of this type, make the production of this annual, in truth, education in action. ' 4'R'ffWa'f'f V. T. BAUGH Principal MAY, 1951 It is with much pride, I am sure, that students of the high school pursue the contents of this interesting book. It is interesting to you because it brings to you in picture and story the high lights of your high school days. In days to come you will, no doubt, refer to its pages to refresh your memory of many pleasant activities in which you participated. After all it is the sum total of these experiences along with your studies which makes high school life worth-while. If you are graduating, this book will be a treasure house for many days. If you are an undergraduate and have one, two or three years yet to be in school, it is your opportunity to enrich your school life with many happy days in order that the records yet to be written may be as full and meaningful as this one. However, before I begin, may I congratulate you on your appointment to the l.I.I. Certainly, if there is anyone who can give complete satisfaction in such a position, you two ladies can. In this year of 1965 we find the world still in a state of melee: Stalin succeeding in drawing the United States into all this confusion. Nevertheless, our students of 1951 have found their place in the world and most of them are successful and happy in their jobs. CARMEN RODGERS, the girl who could never quite make up her mind which of the boys she liked best, is now living in the Last Chance home in Bachelorville, Kentucky. She spends her time knitting socks and sweaters for the needy bachelors. GLENDA DELANO, the big flirt in For Pete's Sake, is still behind footlights and is still flirting. She is at the present time starring in the late broadway production, Cuddles, said to be the best play in two decades. CLIFFORD ROBINSON, that tall guy with the long eye- lashes has winked his way into the Editor's chair of the Times in New York. Also, I learned recently, there are two other class members on the staff of the TIMES. DAVID BLALOCK, the man with the shutter bug is chief society photographer, RUTH ANN JONES is one of those kind of people who know all about love. She writes a love-lorn column, if you ladies ever need any advice, just call on Ruth Ann. PETE PETERSON and BILL DAVIS are married and are living in Tallapoosa, Georgia, where Bill is a real estate broker. Pete is keeping house and enjoying society while Bill pays the bills. DON WEBB has done quite well for himself in the liter- ary world. He has written several very good fiction novels, one of which is titled, THE GRAVEDIGGER AND THE CHAMBER MAID. Another classmate who has done quite well for himself is RALPH MCGAUGH. He is head waiter at -the Waldorf and seems to be quite satisfied with his station in life. Three other classmates who have become famous almost pver night are BETTY BURNETT, LOIS HODGES and EBETINE ANDERSON. They were chosen from a group of 2,000 girls to take a trip to Hawaii to learn the art of Hawaiian dancing. EPPEL BEATY is coaching girls' basketball at Ye Ole Alma Mater, WHS. She has not marriedg she has told some of her closest friends that she would much rather have a basketball in her hands than a man on them. Two of our old friends have received posistion in our United States Government. These are DON McGAUGH, who is one of Arkansas' representatives, and JOHN HENRY HAWKINS, senator from Arkansas. J. T. BLALOCK has become Waldron's wealthiest farmer while BILLY NEAL has become the wealthiest cat-tle rancher. WAYNE JOHNSON has become manager of the Ross Creek Ice-Cream Supply Co. His company supplies the towns of Needmore and Jenkins with all the ice cream they can consume. Wayne's most useful and economical advertisement is with the Brass, Bell Agency. BETTY PRIDDY and her husband are now residing somewhere in Argentina where I have heard that they are managing a large corned beef packing plant. In spite of the confusion in the world the greatest sport is still baseball. Two great players are CHARLES KITCHENS and LEON BOBBITT. Charles is second baseman for the Cubs and Leon is first short for the Dodgers. Two girls of our class have become teachers. They are CLARA THOMAS and MARGARET KITCHENS. Clara teaches Biology at a school in Houston, Texas, and Mar- garet spends her time distinguishing between transitive and intransitive verbs. BOBBY FRANKLIN has decided that the least effort he can put forth and still be in the know is what he wants. With this in mind he has kept the job of soda jerk for Baber's Drug store for some time now. CLARA MOORE, as we used to hope would gain weight, has finally done so. After much dieting she has reached the two-hundred and one mark. She is now owner of that famous eating place, 'Reno, in Houston, Texas. OLIVER FERGUSON and HAROLD RICE have chosen the army for their careers. Oliver and Harold both have been in the army for several years and, to my surprise, like it. DORIS ANN MORRIS and JOHN EVANS live in Phil- adelphia. John is managing a railfoad gang while Doris manages a gang of Evan's. JUANITA McLAIN has surprised everyone and has be- come a quite capable aviatrix. She is piloting for Ameri- can Air Lines between Los Angeles and New York. After Gene's enlistment in the Air Corps was over, JOYCE YARBROUGH spent most of her time and money toward getting him through his last two years of high school. Now she stands in line at the Employment Agency while he rests his feet. Oh, what utter devotion. F The movie goers in Waldron are more ardent lovers of the silver screen than ever since one of Waldron's own per- sonalities is starring in Hollywood. BILLY MAURICE NEWBORN has become even more popular with his singing than Bing Crosby. Bill sings sentimental songs and ballads in the new hit movie, Those Wasted Years. From the class of 1951 only one has attained the honor of a Ph. D. He has gone through many hardships, but may I say, Waldron congratulates HOYT GOODNER for receiving such outstanding recognition. DELOIS MCCRAW was featured in a beauty contest soon after graduation and to her joy was selected most beauti- ful. She is now modeling for Vogue. CHARLIE PLAYFORD and DELPHIA SLAUGHTER- BECK are married and now own a sugar refining plant in the Philippines. They are living in Manila and spend their time looking after the business. MARSELENE has a beauty shop in Little Rock. They say her clientele consists only of social elite of that city. She must be quite a success in her business. I am very glad to say that one of the 1951 graduates has received a D. D. degree. PAT MCQUERY has finished his seminary training and is now pastor of a large church in Chicago. We congratulate Pat on his dedication to such a noble profession. WACO HAVNER owns his own farm at Union Hill. He has married and is quite happy just to remain on his farm and let the rest of the world go by. BILL AMMONS has been promoted to trustee down at Tucker Farm. Since his promotion he stands a good chance of getting a parole in the spring. ALMA DEAN HUNTER, who always tried to pursuade Miss Carty to dictate only two let-ters each day, is now a court stenographer in Little Rock. She now tries to pur- suade the judge to allow only two witnesses on the stand each day, she says she doesn't want to exert herself. WILLA FAYE LANGLEY has shown skill in the athletic field, too. For the last five years she has held the title of World's Champion Heavyweight Women's Wrestler. I'm sure you have heard of her victory over the former champ, Lady Blue Beard, this fight was publicised and praised by sports writers in the U. S. and Europe as the greatest match in twenty-five years. DALE HUDDLESTON has gone into the service of the F. B. I. His skill as a tracer has helped him to track down such characters as Frizzle Top the Murderer, Pie Face the Kidnapperf' and Eight Ball the Bandit. Only a bril- liant tracer like Dale could have displayed the adroitness that was required to find and capture these enemies of the public. KENNETH BYNUM is associated with Barnum and Bailey's Circus and makes frequent hunting trips to Africa. Trophies he has brought back include tiger skins, elephant tusks and cobra fangs. His must be an exciting life. BILLY BOBBITT has decided to make the army his ca- reer. He is called General Hash by his buddies since he spends most of his time on K. P. However, maybe his ex- perience as K. P. will qualify him to make some woman a good cook someday. Unfortunately, however, fate has been most unkind to me. I, NAOMI KINARD, have acquired the position of Pub- lications Manager of Taylor Publishing Company, putting out high school and college annuals until Gabriel blows his trumpet. I am leaving you with this, the story of our success, to ponder over during your leisure hours. Very truly yours, NAOMI KINARD wi , ' din QWD Lau LZ.1g- V M. . ,i Q-1 4 E?
