A friend that Dave has truly been missed by all. He changed much in the short time I knew typified the qualities Waldorf pro- him. Changes that brought him closer motes in the student body: A desire to to Christ. A friend we shall miss. learn, a sense of humor, and a love ofp A friend who has gone home to be with his brothers and Christ. His extreme hiS Friend, JESUS- willingness and competiveness were Dana Redfield very prevalent. In every sense, he was a person who cared. Neal Weltzin Life--Death There are sinners in this world and there are winners in this world. Accepting Christ as your Savior makes you a winner. Rejecting Christ as your Savior makes you a sinner or a lost soul doomed for eternal death. Now everyone knows death is not fun, but if you do not convert to the Christian way of life you are saying to yourself that you want to die eternally. You yourself are deciding to die. Now on the other hand, people talk about immortality as something impossible to attain, yet the minute you accept Christ as your Savior you never die. Yes, I said you never die. Sure, when h the time comes here on earth you will seem to ndieu to lost souls around you, but at that exact moment you will be escorted to heaven itself by angels. And you will live forever in peace, and love, and all the good things the Bible stands for. So, brethren, the choice is simple: eternal death or eternal life. You can make the choice right now for Christ and live forever, or you can keep on your slide down to eternal death and torment in hell itself. --Dan Luttio In This Volume . . . It seemed like every sophomore was on the look out for the lonely freshmen who weren't sure who was who yet. Tuesday marked the first day of Initiation. Clothes were worn inside out, which showed some pretty funny combinations, but the majority of kids wore sweatsu Wednesday brought cries of nAir Raidn from the sophomores. At this time, the heads of the fresh- men were buried in buckets, pails or paper bags. This brought about confusion since those plaguing words were heard from 7 A.M. to 4 P.M. and one never knew wherethey were coming from. Thursday was the day that all those big sisters and brothers contacted the freshmen and gave the orders for the day. The tastes of the sophomores went from one extreme to another. There were many hairy legs and knobby knees in the cutiest dresses, people in PJ's, snowmobile suits and army boots. Friday marked the end of Initiation with the freshmen wearing hats of all kinds, shapes and sizes Although the freshmen will never admit it, the week provided alot of laughs. Jesus must love us very much to give us a place like Waldorf. He has brought every person here for a reason, to fulfill the plan He has for each of us. Being selceted homecoming queen was one of the biggest honors of my life. However, it seems to me that there shouldn't be only one queen-- because everyone here is so special. Although Waldorf is certainly a place for which to be homeward bound, it's actually a step or two on the way of our ultimate homeward bound journey. Waldorf is not only a place, but it's people and it's an ideal that goes beyond Forest City and two years spent on campus. While at Waldorf, I spent time as pres- ident of Ormseth Hall, an R.A. there, in Student Senate, J.G.B., L.Y.E., Phi Theta Kappa and intermurals. But my biggest 1 learning experience has come from simply being with people here, seeing and sharing their love, and that of Christ. riched my life. One of the Sharon Hatland Feb. 5, 1956 Mason City, IA There are so many feelings, ex- periences, joys, and sorrows that are a part of all these that it has been hard for me to summarize it all. Waldorf has been one great learning experience for me. Through the fantastic people I've been blessed with, the classes and extra-curricular activities and the joyous and trying times I've learned more about myself and others around me. I'll never be able to thank the people here, or my Lord, enough for all they have taught me! These past two years at Waldorf have been a growing experience for me in many ways. I've has the opportunity to make many won- derful friendships among the stu dents and faculty. I've had the freedom to expand my knowledge within it's Christian education and have found here the fellow- ship enabling me to grow spirit- ually in faith and love toward Jesus Christ. The future is something to look forward to, and I know that I'll miss being at Waldorf very much. M .f Chris Olson Feb. 3, 1956 Lake Mills, IA Waldorf is a very special place to me. I have learned it is there even through the problems. He is always there tool Helping to share all things. It will be hard to leave Waldorf but actually a part of it will always be in my And heart. Thanks to everyone here. May the Lord Conn tinually heaven's as with h bless you with blessings as well uman joys. Ps. 128:5 I plan to continue my education but am still considering several different schools. As I leave I would like to share a poem given to me by a friend while attending Waldorf: HThere is a destiny that makes us brothers None goes his way alone. This years events took us from the opening bonfire on Thursday night where victory was already swelling up inside players and fans, through Sunday afternoon when hearts rejoiced together as choir, singers and band presented an exciting concert to conclude the weekend. Friday evening was coronation time with Dwight Dobell as host and five special girls to share in court honors. Escorted by their father, each candidate was an expression of joy and delight and probably a little nervous too. Shawn Oleson sang a couple songs, Bruce Jolivette, Marylin Haugen shared an instrumental duet, anticipation grew, and finally Carrie Hergert took her stroll, stopped and crowned our new queen, Miss Becky Fjelland. Shocked but truly honored, Becky greeted everyone with a bright and beaming face. CA certain host I know had a pretty big grin himself.D At 10:30 that night, many were blessed as we shared in the first Vesper Services, finding Christs presence richly surrounding us. A brisk Saturday morning started off with the ol' parade with Orm taking lst place in floats and Rass lst place in dorm decorations. The afternoon brought victory's proff as the Warriors defeated Iowa Lakes. Saturday night ended with the alumni dinner and the homecoming dance with music provided by Judd. Provocative and controversial ever since its first appearance, Six Characters could be said to have ushered in the modern Htheatre of the absurdng it was also an important factor in Pirandello's winning the 1935 Nobel Prize for Drama. Though regarded as Hpretty heavy stuff' by a number of the local critics, the play proved to be a valuable educational experience for members of the drama team, they came away with some keen insights of drama and Pirandelloism. When someone comes to Waldorf,he notices some thing special about this campus. That special thing he finds is a joyous Christian spirit of love. What makes this difference? The people, the faculty, the staff and the students. Many people first come here with the idea, no more chapel or church for me, but soon they find tha without these they are missing much. The LYE gospel teams, Prayer and Praise, the Unique, Women at the Well, 6:30 prayer meetings and other informal meetings give a person op- portunities to share and grow. Special groups, such as Shekina Glory, Father's Image and the Imperials, give those who participate a bless ing of true Christian worship. Special times such as Com union Vespers also fill those who come with a peace that can be attained no where else except in Christ The Lord blesses His people. The Lord has blessed Waldorf. Gospel teams at Waldorf this year were big in number and very busy. Ten teams with nine to eleven members on each, participating in various activities, including Chapel, the Unique, Waldorf Sundays, and full weekends at congregations through out Iowa and surrounding states. The main purpose JE S U RETREADED TIRES for a team was to go out and share the great news E5 that God brings us through the love of Jesus. As one unit, with Christ as the cornerstone, members grew to effectively relate to people of all ages Team gave an opportunity for an individual to grow spiritually as well as having good times and fellow ship with others. Some teams were going out as early as in September, and up to seven teams had been out at one time over a weekend. BACK: Cherry S., Deanie O H., Dan M. MIDDLE: Becky Sue T., Darrell R. Supplied with tables and chairs and a stage up front, not to mention the popcorn and water bar, plus posters and an old beat- up piano, the Unique was a meeting place for LYE teams, Bible studies, prayer meet- ings, and just good talks, in addition to being open almost every weekend for an evening. Several LYE teams from other colleges, high school gospel groups, and very often stu- dents would get together 8 share songs and skits. A The Fellowship of Christian Athletes is an organization of guys who have participated in high school or college athletics or intramurels and find victory not only on the athletic field but also in fellow- ship with Jesus Christ and each other. This idea was exemplified by the National Conference Theme HWe really do need each other,H and was carried on during the year as we found everybody had to be willing to help or nothing was accomplished. This year's officers were co-captains Joe Addis and Neal Weltzin, secretary Nick George, and treasurer Steve Hampshire. The activities during the year included: taking children from Winnebago Handicapped Services to a Waldorf football gameg helping with World Hunger week by having a pie-throwing booth at the carnivalg repairing toys for the needy people of Winnebago countyg holding a banquet with Mark Arneson, middle linebacker for the St. Louis Cardinals as the speakerg taking junior high boys to a Waldorf men's basketball game, then afterwards eating in the Valhalla and having Coach Mekelberg talk to themg enjoying a professional basketball game between Milwaukee and Houston, then staying overnight in Milwaukeeg visiting Handicapped Village in Clear Lakeg attending a weekfend retreat also in Clear Lakeg and finally hosting the 2nd annual FCA golf tourney at the Forest City golf course. Regular meetings were held periodically during the year and attempts were made to establish a constitution and gain space for an office and permanent place to meet. All in all it was a year of fun but more important a time for learn- ting the need to be truly Christ's examples both on and off the athletic field. The Beta Lambda chapter of Phi Theta Kappa has been active on Waldorf's campus since 1932. This past year, our nation's Bicentennial year, has been particularly exciting. The chapter utilized the Bicentenni- al in many ways, such as painting fire plugs, sponsoring a theme- writing contest, and seeing that Waldorf was designated as a HBicen- tennial Campus.H Members volunteered to usher at school activities, to guide freshmen to their advisors' homes, to raise money for world hunger organizations, to help in the American Lung Association's Walk-a-thon, etc. It wasn't all work, of course. The group held picnics, a Christmas party, a ban- quet, and showed many fine movies. The climax of the year for many members was the National Conven- tion in Biloxi, MI. The chapter met with 1700 other Phi Theta Kappans for three days of excite- ment, companionship and learning. Two members of Beta Lambda were individually honored in Biloxi: Named to the society's Hall of K Honor were advisor Eric Fietz 8 1 president Carol Munch. Congratu- lations to the whole chapter! --Carol Munch 1975-76 Phi Theta Kappa officers L. to R.: Lori Tweedt, treasurerg Mary Butson, sec- S' COMES ALI E PHI TI-IET Members of Beta Lambda, a chapter of Phi Theta Kappa National Honor Society. For the morning Baccalaureate worship service, President Paul D. Mork gave the Ag class of 1976 a sermom entitled UThe Best Worth Knowing. At 2 o'clock that afternoon the Com- ' mencement exercises were held. Dr. Oscar W A. Anderson, President of Augsburg College in Minneapolis addressed a crowded Civic full of graduates, faculty, family and friends. President Mork then conferred degrees to the 183 graduates in the Class of '76. As these graduates venture many different directions into the world, reaching out in their per- spective areas, they are spreading the knowledge, love and insights found at Waldorf. ,Q I.. .-Ak SR X: 'jf I 4 1 I f' X35 fflg ' X V14 I 1 Good-bye To Waldorf -f , f 'Lv LOQ uohcs H505 trooexed mucxu mid kooecj 'much Z we wma WAGE ' 1 LUN' 'WCW' 957' Suffevecj 'PCPY' use YWYACQ BXLGDYS 'vecczgrwxzifij TYW'PCpuQ,5h .:5LxHfe:Pirvqg cur GCJDO Sex? 5LxQfx'QvWC,51 ..
