With fifty players opening the football season in the early fall practices and ending in a tragic finale with a heartbreaking loss to Mason City, Waldorf can consider its efforts very satisfying and respect- ed by the fans, opponents, coaches, and players that participated. The biggest game of the season for the Warriors was considered the Homecoming game with Marshal- town. After loosing to them last year in the closing seconds of the game, there was an evident sense of revenge in the minds of many of the players. The finald score read 19 to 13 in favor of Waldorf. The veteran war horses made up the minority of the year's team, involving only seven of the squad. These players were jim Dralle, Greg Puls, Doug Hoxeng, jim Hayden, Bill Wickum, lim Bird, and jeff Franko. Even though these players made up a small portion, their enthusiasm and leadership helped give the freshmen the confidence and determination that gave Waldorf its impressive caliber of football. f' 'ax B nfl 'Q
