Miriam Leis Secretary-Treasurer . .Marjorie Fielden Adviser ........... Miss Helen Holce Beta Tau, the Social Studies Society, is one of the new groups as it is now in its second year. Its purpose is to give opportunity to discuss current events, provide recreation, and unite those juniors and seniors who are social studies students and interested in discussing current events. Every other Thursday night the organization meets and has either a discussion or recreational program. Among some oi the discussions held are: juvenile delinquency, post war world, equal distribution of student organiza- tions. Volunteer committees which plan and provide for two meetings a month are responsible for preparing for adequate discussion at each meeting. i121 v

Marlene Evans Mrs. Gabriel's 7th grade is enjoying a pleasant year with its activities centering around saving money for the purchase of stamps. By February, 822 oi the class was reg- ularly making contributions. With the money won in the Hi-Notes subscription competition, a Christmas party was held, and at Easter the class had a spring picnic. Each morning the class salutes the flag, repeats the Lord's Prayer, and members discuss daily problems. i113 v

Pupils have made mittens, beanies, utility bags, cross word puzzles, scrap books, toys. They have collected several tons of paper and netted Sl79,8O on a lair at which articles made chiefly by elementary children were sold.
