cz Faye Sawyer, Helen Oakley, Ken Temple, andGraylyn Doyle were chosen by the American Legion and the American Legion Auxiliary as delegates to Tarheel Girls ' and Boys ' State. These students were selected on the basic re¬ quirements of initiative, leadership abilities, scholarship, and personality. During the seven days in which the students lived on the UNC campus, they learned the fundamentals of local, parish, and state govern¬ ments by actually taking part in the elections of the officials of the mythical state govern¬ ment. Through the knowledge gained the Wakelon students returned ready to take a greater part in civic affairs. Moses Chapter of the National rlonor Society is based on four ideals: Scholarship, Leadership, Character, and Service. Our members possess these qualities as veil as many others, especially activity. This years society is very active, undertaking such projects as printing and selling programs for all the home football games, making and selling cupcakes at home basketball games, and selling candy. Funds raised .from these projects will be used to give scholarships to ,vorthy seniors. A needy family will have a Merrier Christmas be¬ cause of gifts from the NHS. Our members are given an oppor- runity to enjoy their membership in the NHS through the social meetings held out of school and most important the annual state convention.
