Nlembers of the liakefield lligh School Hand have experienced an active and successful year. The year started with the band attending Hand Day at the University of Nebraska. 'l'he band also marched for the homecoming at Wayne State. The band marched and performed band shows for half-time entertainment at football games. The band also performed for the Pancake Day as added entertainment for the crowds. On November 30, 1956, the band presented their fall concert. This concert illustrated the progress attained through the first few months of band practice at school. Selected members enjoyed the opportunity of llusker Band Clinic Conference at Wayne. The Pep Band played for most home basketball games to give added school spirit and support. ln ad- dition, on several occasions the 'llwirlers performed between the halves at the basketball games for the enjoyment of the audience. The band has been playing many different selections and tempos this school year. Band practice, beginning at 8:20 A. Nl. every morning, has become a worthwhile extra-cirricular class for the band members. A variety from swing to symphonic music, including religious numbers, was practiced. Scales and much sight reading have been used extensively to improve the band's technique. All in all, the 1956-57 school year gave the band members a very excellent musical experience.
