Rush hour traffic Wakefield students fill the halls in the last-minute rush before school begins. Since 1953, Wake5eld,s first year of operation, the student's day, like the building, has undergone con- siderable change. In 1953, the student rose at 8:00 and rushed to the bus stop, hoping to catch one of the unpredictable buses. Now, the student awakens at 6:45 and, less than an hour later, half-dressed, still asleep, and with- out breakfast, dashes out the door to the bus stop hoping that the bus will not be as punctual as usual. On the bus, then as now, the student, holding a load of books in one arm and clinging desperately to the back of a seat with his free hand, manages, if he is lucky, to maintain a somewhat upright position during the rough trip to school. If, however, by some stroke of luck, he gets a seat, the student perches precariously on the edge of the seat, defying gravity at every turn.
