OSBORNE PRINCIPAL JOHN T. BRODERICK VICE-PRINCIPAL •CI nU Lj V o ' JOSEPH R. SARDELLA ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL DR. ELIZABETH UPHAM DEAN OF GIRLS Principal ' s Message This is the age of instant communication and crisis where incidents in various parts of the globe are relayed immediately; where local and national problems lead overnight to public speculation and confusion; where the volume of technological data threatens to overwhelm and dehumanize ' us all. How to cope with a world where people feel helpless and bewildered is a prime challenge for all young people. My message is simple. Your goal should be to share a common conviction that what you do as a person does count in this world; that a decision to accentuate those qualities most human in all of us is important; that problems are not even identified let alone solved without constant effort. Finally, pursue your goals with a singular determination and hold to your convictions with courage. To the Class of 1974, best wishes for a satisfying and meaningful life. JUN 2 4 1974 12 In Special Recognition of James Walsh For years of service and dedication to the student body. Your roles as teacher and coach have long been a source of inspiration to all of us; but especially the boys who have looked to you for your leader- ship and experience. TEACHER, COACH, FRIEND 13 ySv % ' S??S s« DEDICATION My goal as a teacher is to inspire my students. I think there are three kinds of teachers — the first is the sympathetic type. You can go to them and cry on their shoulder. Sympathy is important in a teacher but I don ' t think it is the first priority. Then there are the organized teachers who repeat lesson plans verbatim from year to year and are constantly passing out mimeographed sheets. I could never be like that. The third type is the inspiring teacher. She inspires her students to want to learn. I would most like to be like this. Margaret Wheeler «?: -r ? : ' t, -T ■■ fi. fmSl ' . 10 ; ' ' -••5 ♦ : . Miss Wheeler you HAVE succeeded for: Not seldom in this life, when, on the right side, fortune ' s favourites sail close by us, we, though all adroop before, catch somewhat of the rushing breeze, and joyfully feel our bagging sails fill out. Herman Melville Moby Dick A Special Tribute to Mr. Broderick: After a career in education spanning three decades Mr. John Broderick announced his decision to retire. Teachers will miss the moral support he always gave and students will remember his strict but always fair deci- sions.
