We Attended Classes In Our New Home On these pages of our scrapbook we recall the early days in our new building . . . the endless corridors . . . those impossible locker combinations . . . the traffic jam in the lunch room. For the first few days even the faculty was confused, but eventually we settled down again to a steady pace. Turning the pages we remember the day Mr. Alley explained to jim Hurton, by means of a flashlight and a globe, how the sun's rays hit the earth . . . Miss Cowing Hitting around the room in search of an evasive test paper . . . the day the gym partition would not close and we had co-ed vol- leyball . . . Mr. Broderick patiently explaining Newton's second law of motion . . . Miss Clifford and Miss Hiatt preparing us for the business world . . . Hamlet with Miss Caswell . . . and jack Connelly's stirring por- trayal of the Ghost . . . Miss Height's classes struggling with Iogarithms and geometric progressions. We Gnd reminders of the talent Miss Hirst developed in her art classes . . . the masterpieces of craftsmanship that Mr. Pepe's shop classes brought home . . . the tantalizing aromas that drifted our way from our strikingly modern home economics area. YVe can see Mr. Dower teaching the funda- mentals of economics . . . and Mr. Ceddia steering his Auto Driving pupils along the road to a driving license. On other pages are glimpses of our new classes . . . Miss Leone's per- sonal typing classes slowly pecking out fl2345f space at their keyboards . . . the appropriate Christmas plays that Mr. Staunton's speech classes pre- sented at assembly . . . Mr. Crahn instructing his general physics class on the mechanics of the vacuum cleaner . . . and our new class after classes -the detention room in l27. These and the other memories in our scrapbook form a permanent record of the fun we had, the knowledge we gained, and the friends we made at our beloved XVakefield Memorial High School.
