Text from Pages 1 - 96 of the 1985 volume:

We, the senior class of 1985, dedicate with pride our Echo to the people who started us off by teaching us the “basics” of reading, writing, and mathematics and helping in every other aspect of our elementary school years. We understand that it must have taken patience and a lot of understanding to do this. That is why we dedicate our Echo to you, the elementary school teachers, to show you that we haven’t forgotten all you did for us. 2 3 Class Advisors President: Kim Vice President: Lynn Secretary: Dana Treasurer: Barb Kumiko Asada Our Exchange Student The students, faculty and administration of Wakefield High School as well as the people of our community had the honor and pleasure of getting to know our exchange student this year. Kumiko Asada, our exchange student from Nara, Japan, was sponsored by the Wakefield Rotorians. Her hobbies include knitting, skiing, and reading. Kumi said we have pretty lakes and friendly people. Her favorite foods are strawberries, ice-cream and lasagna. She has an older sister and a younger brother. When Kumi goes back in Aug. of ’85, she will have 7 months of high school to complete. After she is done with high school, she plans either to attend a university to become an interpreter or to go on to a business school. Kumi’s host family was Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Wuorinen. 5 Thomas Warren Ahonen Seniors Kumiko Asada Laura Lee Bekkala Keith Allen Cormier Barbara Ellen Davidson 6 Jodi Rae DelFavero Dana Jean Doney Craig Eric Foster Seniors Theresa Marie Demerath Carrie Lynn Doney Louis Edward Geroux Kevin C. Virta 15 Todd A. Williams Robert Z. Yatczak The Class of ’85 To give you a better insight into the class of ’85, we asked the seniors about their likes, dislikes, worries, and plans. After graduation, over 30 of the seniors are going to college, five plan to enter the service, six will seek employment, and seven want to travel. Two will “go home and change,” leaving the remaining six undecided. When asked what their biggest worry was nine said, “Grades,” six said “Graduation,” four worried about the future, five thought of death, and the others worried over a wide range of things from “My Chains” to “Money.” Believe it or not, three never worry at all! “What is one of your minor headaches?” was the next question. Six seniors said “school,” five thought of Senior Composition in this manner, and another six said they didn’t have any headaches. The remaining seniors had headaches in many areas, ranging from cars to homework. The rock group, Twisted Sister seemed to dominate the musical favorites. Not only was Twisted Sister the most popular group, but they also had the favorite album, Stay Hungry and song, “We’re Not Gonna Take It.” Since the seniors’ favorite activity is watching T.V., you can imagine the list of favorite shows, but the daytime soap Days of Our Lives was picked over all others. Clint Eastwood was the favorite actor. Although Loni Anderson was number one in the actress category, Miss Piggy was a close second. The R-rated shows seemed to be the most popular with this class, so it shouldn’t surprise you that Bachelor Party was on top. Just about every senior had their own favorite expression, but “It’s casual” was used by more than one person. Some of the others were “better you than me,” “we’re on a roll,” “punt,” “you,” “you’re a mad man,” and “ruin my day in a major way.” Government, Art, Senior Math, and VoTech were all chosen as favorite classes. Mr. Forini was given the honor as favorite teacher. Some seniors said they loved all teachers and a few said they only like the teachers who give them the best grades! As a group, the senior class voted for blue as their favorite color and football as their favorite sport. And where do the seniors hang out? At “a friend’s house.” s 17 Cathy Blodgett Crystal Cook Xj Mark Franklin James Budgick Timothy Foster Angela Bertetto Ralph Kapustka Patricia Kivi I aura Libertoski Thomas Livingston Eric Niemi Gale Nordine Andrew Borseth Frederick Broemer Pamela Dalbec Christopher Heil Mary Kremposki Scott Luoma David Obremski Andrew Disheau I Julie Houle Jeffrey Laessig Jerry Mattson Susan Olexa I - al i Melissa Ikola Gavin Lamaide Damon Morrison James Olson Nicholas Buda Bryon Flohaug Carey Johnson Jody Legassa Violet Newman William Pann 18 Juniors Lisa Schneck Kathy Shirkey Jean Williams Wendy Pikka Pamela Singleton Lisa Wuorinen Jeffrey Richards John Suomi Gregory Zeman Alicia Zurakowski Amy Wiita CLASS OFFICERS — L to R: Treasurer Violet, Secretary Gavin, Vice-President John, President Laura. 19 Not Pictured: M.
