Exchange Students HANS MARTIN OSTERBRAND, ELI RANGAARD RECEIVING A BIRTHDAY CAKE FOR ELI FROM MR. EUGENE MAKI, A MEMBER OF THE WAKEFIELD ROTARY CLUB. The students of Wakefield High School and the residents of our community hod the pleasurable experience of becoming acquainted and shoring cultures with exchange students from foreign countries during the post year. Miss Eli Randgaard, on exchange student from Homor, Norway, was sponsored by the Wokefield Rotorians. Her hobbies include reading, writing, 4-H, and listening to music. Eli said .she liked the Upper Peninsulo very much and hod olor of fun learning to ploy basketball. She also liked our many different varieties of food, which she hod never tasted in Norway. Eli is seventeen years ond hos one younger brother. She will attend o secondory school for two years when she returns to Norway. After that she is planning on going into the secretarial field or to study to be a social worker. Her host families during her stay were June ond Chris Kotilo, Mr. ond Mrs. Jerry Wuorinen, ond Mr. ond Mrs. Dole Soumis. Martin Osterbrond, through the efforts of the American Scondinovion Student Exchange program spent the year here attending school, while living with the James Ozzello family. Quoting Martin, his hobbies ore, Tennis, tennis, ond tennis, dragon flying, skiing, ond hunting girls. He enjoyed our oreo ski hills ond oil the snow. Martin learned to ploy basketball os o member of the Cord varsity team. He is the oldest of three children in his family or sixteen. After he returns to his hometown of Goreberg, Sweden, he will offend school for two more years ond then will serve o mandatory year of military service. Martin said the Upper Peninsulo is very much like Sweden ond he loves it. 5
