IN IVIEMORIAIVI APN HARRY O. PARKER September 25, 1907 - OCt0ber 29, 1983 Witn the death of HarrY Parker, the Bowman CraV School of NlediCine naS lost a dear friend. Mr. Parker graduated from the University of NOFtn CarOlina School of Commerce in 1930 and earned his C.P.A. in 1933. From 1942 to 1946 he Served the United States Army in the COSt analYSiS department. He began working as the Bowman Grav COntr0ller on October 29, 1947 arid served in that CaDaCitV until his 1971 promotion to Associate Dean for Administration. At tnat time he also became the SChOOI'S first director Of tne Division of ReSOUrCe Management. Under his leaderSniD, tne Division developed tne sound financial management practices WI'1iCrl carried the MediCaI School tnl'OUQn itS eariY VearS of growth and deVelODment. Mr. Parker retired later that year DUt in 1976 he returned to Bowman Gray as treasurer of tne Medical Center Challenge Fund. The HarrY O. Parker NeUr0SCienCeS ReSearCn Fund WaS established in his nOnOr in 1973 to support the development of new research concepts in the neurosciences. Mr. Parker WaS a former ViCe-Cnairrnan of tne Group of Business Affairs of the ASSOCiatiOn of American Medical COlieQeS. He WaS a member of the Al'neriCan lnStitUte of Certified Public ACCOLlntantS and the NOrtn CarOlina ASSOCiatiOr1 of Certified PUDIIC ACCOUl'1t3ntS. Dr. Richard Janeway said, Harry Parker'S life eXemDlified those traits that are honorable and worrnv - a StriCt DerSOnal code of fairness, honesty and inteQritV - devotion to tne mediCal school, and a love of fan lilV and an unwavering faitn in GOd.
