Katharine Hunter Anderson, M.D. ln 1943 Dr Katharine Anderson began her Pediatrics practice in Winston-Salem, She was on the staff at City'Forsyth Memorial Hospitals and faculty of the Bowman Gray School of Medicine where she became Professor Emeritus. For thirty Uiree years she taught medical students, house officers, physicians assistants, nurses, her fellow physicians. as well as parents and grandparents how to restore and maintain health, Dr Anderson also took an active part in many local, state and national medical and non-medical societies, always an active advocate for childrens rights to mental, and physical health. To- day this world is a better place because Dr, Katharine Anderson passed our way. Her leadership and insight has touched many lives Thanks to her. the Bowman Gray School of Medicine and the health of many peo' ple have been greatly enriched by association with this gracious per- son. I Richard Lafayette Burt, M.D. Dr Richard Burt, former professor, chairman for the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and friend recently passed away after twenty four years as a dedicated faculty member here He played a critical part in the maturation of our medical school, establishing a graduate training program and pioneering research in reproductive biology which brought international recognition to him and prominence to our institution. This and his numerous other contribu- tions left an imprint and legacy that will long give momentum towards our goal of academic excellence. Manson Meads, M.D. 7
