North Carolina. as a four-year medical college. When the school was expanded to a four-year institution, it was renamed The Bowman Gray School of Medi- cine of Wake Forest College. in recognition of the benefactor who made the expansion pos- sible, the late Bowman Gray, of NVinston- Salem. Although presently separated from the parent institution, the dean in his administrative ca- pacity is responsible to the President of Wake Forest College and, through him. to the Board of Trustees of Wake Forest College. The North Carolina Baptist Hospital, the main teaching hospital of the medical school since 19-ll, was founded in 1923.
