With the assist- ance of numerous secretaries, she types and binds all records on hospital and out patients and tiles them for permanent reference. The Record Room's standards meet the most rigid requirements of the American Medical Association. Dictaphones are supplied so that the doctors may leave very complete notes on all patients in a short time. DIETETICS Witli the direction of Miss Rosin Vance, the dieti- tians prepare and serve all meals to the patients, nurses and doctors. Besides the regular house diets, they also serve any special diet that may be necessary for a particular patient and give consultation on special feeding problems. It is because of the work of this group that an adequate and efficient dietary routine can be served in this hospital. PHARMACY The department of pharmacy is headed by Mr. E. W. Rollins who organized it in 1942. With the assistance of Miss Virginia Caudle, all the pharmacy's own compounding is done. It now occupies a large room on the First Hoor of the hospital, but plans for the new wing of the hospital include rooms for the ex- pansion of the pharmacy. CLINICAL ENDOCRINOLOGY The laboratory ot' clinical endocrinology was establish- ed for the more specialized biologic tests. Here, also, research is done of various special problems of inter- departmental interest. ,7.!Luua'xpi- .ig-9-.' a -ILL. .ff .M-..:-v,,x ' RADIOLOGY The department of Radiology consists of fourteen rooms situated on the Fifth floor of the hospital, completely equipped with the most modern radio- graphic and therapy machines. Dr. tl. P. Rousseau, Professor of Radiology, is director uf the depart- ment which trains three house officers in radiological examination and treatment and three student techni- cians. Witli the cooperation of these personnel as well .is other trained technicians, diagnostic examinations and treatments are done for the entire hospital and out-patient department, OPERATING ROOMS This department consists of ten rooms located on the tifth floor of the hospital and under the direction of Miss Lucia Shirley, Supervisor, and Miss Anne Cas- stevens, Assistant Supervisor, On duty at all times are four graduate nurses and eight student nurses and Steve .is chief of the orderlies. Here all the major thoracic, abdominal, orthopedic, urological, gynecolo- gical, .md neurosurgical surgery is done. LIBRARY The Medical Library is located on the First floor of the Medical School and contains collections in the field of medicine, surgery, dentistry, pharmacy, nursing, and the related sciences. More than 275 current periodicals, both domestic and foreign, and more than 175 bound sets of journals are available for reference at all times. Miss Nell Benton is director and Mrs. Richard Hardin assistant, Students are on duty in the library at night and on week-ends. CLINICAL MICROSCOPY Situated on the second floor of the medical building, this department has graduate and student technicians who perform more than 100,000 examinations per year. These examinations include the morphological studies on the blood of all patients.
