dit SENIOR HISTORY On a brlght balmy day ln September 1942 s1xty s1x young sallors boarded a sh1p that was headed for the far harbor of Graduat1on D1ck Schaffer was act mg as captaln and Patrlcla Rohrer was flrst mate Kathryn Pletcher was ln charge of the log book and Marlon Overholser kept account of the expenses Mlss Harrlet Yoder and Mr Wlllxam Smlth were along as Navxgators These offlcers were 1n charge of th1s part of the voyage untxl It was half completed when Nancy Chrxstner took over the brldge w1th Maynard VN eaver as flrst mate Kathryn Fletcher was retamed as log book keeper and Laurabelle Eby was put mn charge of the expenses Of course several storms were encountered espec lally those of Algebra and Blology When the roll was taken at the end of thls lap of our Journey lt was found that two of our crew were m1ssmg Our sh1p soon put lnto port and the flrst part of our Journey was completed After a long shore leave the crew boarded the shlp agaln When muster was taken lt was found that our number had decreased to sxxty Charles Llenhart was chosen as capta1n and Nancy Chrlstner as mate Pauhne Ummel kept log and Max1ne Weaver kept track of the expenses Mrs Glen M1ller and Mlss Alta Housour were on board as pxlots A navy blue and whlte flag was ru n up and a large Amer1can Beauty Rose was palnted on the bow Durlng the voyage tame was taken out for several partxes m the lounge of the shlp No ser1ous storms were encountered but we dld run mto heavy seas several tlmes Our shxp flnally After another shore leave the shlp agaln set sall Nancy Chrlstner was cap taln Charles Llenhart mate and Fern Esenwem kept log and the expenses Mr Glade Rohrer was our pllot When the roll was taken It was found that our number had dropped to forty three We werghted anchor and set out to sea agam Several partles were held ln the shlp lounge and a banquet was enjoyed by all toward the end of our voyage A play entltled Almost Elghteen was glven by several crew members also Thus we came to the end of thxs part of our Journey Agam sa1l1ng tlme rolled around and we welghed anchor Our number had 1n creased to forty s1x Nancy Chrlstner was st1ll captaln and Chuck Long was cho sen as flrst mate Fern Esenweln was st1ll keeplng log and Laurabelle Eby was actlng as treasurer Mr Rohrer was navlgator Soon after we set sa1l another play was glven Young Barry Of course the last year was not wlthout some rough sa1l1ng and we were forced to pass through the Stralts of Chemxstry Now we have dropped anchor ln the harbor of Graduatlon Looklng back over our voyage we f1nd that It was a pleasant one We are now ready for another voyage whxch we all must take that of Lzfe Smce our motto 15 Rowmg Not Drlftmg we hope that 15 just what we shall do ln our future lxfe Paul Mast came to anchor and the first half of our journey was now complete.

4444 MEET T HE SENIORS Robert Bem1l1er Thls brown hamred blue eyed Sen1or boy IS noted for hrs long shots ln basketball He has played the trumpet ln the band for four years He wants to flnd work m town after graduatlon Bertha Btxler Thls senxor glrl has brown hazr and eyes Her mam aCt1V1tleS have been Glrl Reserves and Chorus she has been act1ve In these for three years She wlll always be remembered for her bubbllng personalxty She IS undecxded as to what she w1ll do after graduatlon R1chard Canen Dlck who has black halr and brown eyes IS one of the quleter members of the Semor Class He has been a member of 4 H for four years and plans to go lnto the army after leav1ng WHS Nancy Chrlstner Nancy has brown ha1r and b1g brown eyes She played the part of Beatnce Barry 1n the Junlor and Semor plays and has been class presldent for two and one half years She was Ed1tor 1n ch1ef of the Waka H1 Lltes and the Annual Dean Cr1pe Dean IS one of our taller Sen1or boys wlth black ha and brown eyes He IS lnterested ln sports and IS on our track baseball and basketball teams He plans to go lnto the army after graduatlon Joan Culp joan 15 noted for her very black halr and brown eyes She was an actlve member of the Llbrary Club and G1r1 Reserves She would l1ke to go xnto nurses tralnmg after graduat1on Loreen Dav1dh1zar Loreen known as Rooney to her friends has short dark halr and green eyes She played the part of Mother Barry ln the junlor and Sen1or class plays She played a cornet 1n the band for four years and she llkes all klnds of sports and has been a member of the G A A for four years Wayne Doermg Wayne lS one of the tallest Semor boys He has brown ha1r and green eyes He was ln the band for one year He plans to JOID the Alr Corp after graduatlon Laurabelle Eby Lolly has long brown haxr and green eyes She has been on staff for four years as make up edltor and was a member of student counc1l for s1x years She IS also the make u, edxtor for the annual staff She was noted for her part as Ann Sherman 1n the jumor and Sen1or class plays She has been class treasurer for one and one half years Peggy Elcher Peggy has black haxr and brown eyes She played the part of Sally Dav1dson ln the JUDIOI' and Sen1or class plays and has been on the staff for one year and HSSIS - 1 .. 1 . . - 1 1 1 . 1 1 t .
