Mr. Fetters attended Oberlin College and the Uni- versity of Toledo, graduating from the University with a bachelor of science degree. His hrst teaching and coaching was done at Attica, Ohio. From there he went to Woodward, where he stayed for three years. In 1941 he came to Waite. During his eleven years at Waite he has taught orientation, mathematics, geography, and history. Coach Fetters has been very successful with his cross country team, winning nine championships dur- ing the last eleven years. He has coached the track team since 1942, producing several individual stars. His career as basketball coach started in 1941 when he took over the freshman team. He continued work- ing with this same group, for he advanced to coaching the lightweight team in 1942-43, and in the fall of 1943 he took over the work of varsity coach, a position he still holds. Mr. Fetters' athletic activities have not been confined to coaching, for he was in charge of the equipment room from 1941-1944 and has been athletic ticket manager for all sports since the year 1944. Outdoor activities occupy Mr. Fetters' time in the summer. For seven of the last ten years he has been director of the summer camp of the Toledo Boys' Club at Camp Big Silver in Michigan. He spends any leisure time he can find with his wife, two sons, and one daughter. In spite of his busy schedule, Mr. Fetters is always ready to give help and advice to the members of his teams, taking a genuine interest in their problems and difficulties. He is very understanding and thoughtful, a real friend to the fellows who work with him. The staff of the Purple am! Gola' hopes that the dedication of the 1952 edition can in part repay Mr. Fetters for his generosity in time and effort and his interest in Waite High School. We realize that Coach doesn't demand extra attention and Commendation for a job well done, but we want him to know that he is truly appreciated by the student body.
