r ' 'E 'R A DEDICATION For their loyalty and service, we of the staff of the Silver Anniversary Edition of the Purple and Gold dedicate this volume to those eight teachers who have been a part of NVaite High School since its founding. To Miss Fon Boerger, Miss Flora Carpen- ter, Miss Anna Connnager, Mr. Fred Klag, Mr. Fred Mathias, Miss Sarah Waite, Miss Nelle Wales and Mrs. Maude Werner we extend our grateful appreciation for their unswerving in- terest in Waite High School and its students. These eight teachers have indeed upheld the spirit of Waite, which was established in 1914. They have also helped to accomplish the purpose of our school: that of making better and more intelligent citizens. These teachers merit reward for their man- ifold accomplishments at Waite High School. We wish to pay tribute to Miss Boerger for her splendid work in the Foreign Language De- partmentg to Miss Carpenter for her services to Paqc Fm' the Purple and Gold, and her promotion of art workg to Miss Commager for her indispensable work in the English Departmentg 'and to Mr. Klag for his endless supply of humorous stories, and his commendable work in the Science and Athletic Departments. Praise is due also to Mr. Mathias for his kind and helpful services as a Dean, and for his position in the Mathe- matics Department g to Miss Waite, not only for her position as a Mathematics teacher, but for her aid to the National Honor Society and the Hall Patrolg and to Miss Wales and Mrs. Wer- ner for their helpful services in the Home Eco- nomics Department. P Waite High School does, indeed, appreciate the praiseworthy services that these teachers have bestowed upon us since our school was erected. Will you accept our thanks for all that you have done for the betterment of this school? May you feel amply rewarded, and may you continue to enjoy faculty life at VVaite 'High for years to come.

It was in this chaotic year that VVaite High School was erected in liast Toledo. Witli this memorable occasion came the necessity for clubs and organizations with which to hold the interest and attention ot the students. As time progressed someone Qbless himj suggested that a record be made of the school year's highlights, and that it be called the Pzfrfvlc and Gold. Thus the Annual started on its road to student fame. Leading pioneers in the tield of education at this time were: Doctor Vvlllilllll B. Guitteau, Superintendent of Schools. and Charles NV. Gayman, our tirst Principal.
