SENIOR CLASS OF 1915 SENIOR CLASS OF 1939 Qui tulerate vifzcritf' He who endures, con- quers. As the one hundred and tenpseniors of the Waite High School graduation class of nine- teen-hundred-fifteen received their diplomas, they passed through the portals of their Alma Mater to face unyielding society with this encouraging class motto in their minds. Leading the anxious aspirants were their loyal class ofhcers-the students who held thc distinction of being the first Senior Class officers of Waite High School. President of the class of 1915 was William Kuhnsg Vice-President was Irene Schoomaker: Secretary, Ethelyn Mc Gill, Treasurer, Donald Butler, Sergeant-at-arms, Eldred Waldruff : Historian, Richard De Shelterg Poet, Dorothy Kellogg, Prophet, Earl Troutweing and Novelist, Mildred Cowell, our own English teacher and Retina advisor. These praise-worthy ofiicers of twenty-five years ago have indeed set an excellent example which has been loyally followed by all class officers throughout previous years and down to the present. The Seniors of 1915 were widely different from our gay and fun-loving Seniors of 1939. Among that first class were no jitterbugs or swingsters, no short skirts, saddle oxfords, or hot sox. Instead dignified, aspiring students traversed the corri- dors of Waite High School, as eager for knowl- edge as the students of today. What has become of Waite's first Senior class? For some of them their class motto has proven true. they have accomplished their goals, and left their mark in the world. They have endured and conquered. Others, perhaps, have not been as successfulg their motto has not been fulled for them. Others, perhaps, are still striving to ac- complish. They are yet driving forward, with their motto still in mind. He who endures, conquers. Page Twenty-seven Iam tempus agi rcs. N ow is the time to do things. just as that very first graduation class of a long-time ago faced the future with a motto of sagacious advice in mind, so we, the students of today, lift our eager, ambition-filled countenances to society and the world, and defy anybody to stop us. There is no doubt that perhaps we shall see only a very few of the class after graduation. But when we think of our aim in life, of our motto, it would be an impossible thing for us to forget those who made our journey of four years length through VVaite High School so very pleas- ant and exciting. Even though we may forget many of the names and faces of the young associates with whom we have been so very happy, we shall never forget the excellent services performed by our own loyal senior class officers. We wish to thank john Long, President, Esther Mc Clelland, Vice- president, Helen Poorbaugh, Secretary: Sam Seferian, Treasurer, Martha Heferle and Parker Consaul,'Sergeants-at-arms, for their leadership through dances, class day and other social func- tions, as well as through our every day school ac- tivities. Their friendliness and' helpful attitudes are much appreciated by us, the followers. We would like here to express our heartfelt thanks to a man who has been an admired mem- ber of every senior class graduating from our loved Alma Mater. For Mr. Fred Mathias, we rise to our feet with applause and praise for the meritorious work he has done, and, we hope, will continue doing as adviser to the senior class. While we are still young, unafraid and am- bitious, let us venture into the world and begin to carve places for ourselves, whether they be large or small, for- Now is the time to do things.
