Eleven A.M .... calm . . . serene . . . peaceful . . . eleven thirty-live . . . transformation . . . hungry souls dash madly up the stairs . . . urged on by the thought of savory food . . . waiting at the top . . . In single file they pass--plates heaped with steam- ing potatoes . . .snowy under luscious, brown gravy . . delicious side dishes of Spanish noodles and creamy chocolate pudding topped with whipped cream . . . pausing only long enough to let fall into the hands of the genial cashier . . . the amount asked for . . . So it goes . . . for three periods . . . quiet . . . then turmoil . . . dishes clash and clatter in the washer . . . quiet reigns again . . . 'till tomorrow once more brings the horde clattering through the gateway to gastronomical content.
