Cvviaw awww.. 92... This year's squad consisted of quality men. Led by team captains Ernest San- tiago and Westley Moniz, our Marauders gave good account of themselves. The greatest compliment that can be given an athlete is to say he has DESIRE and surely each member of this team showed its desire throughout the season. The one thing that summarizes our squad members is the saying, MEN DO NOT FAIL, THEY GIVE UP. THE SECRET OF SUCCESS IS FAITH- FULNESS ON PURPOSE. And most assuredly these men who finished the sea- son did not fail, but were faithful to their purpose and thereby succeeded. Terrance Cho, Randal Sakaino, Eric Kaya, Marvin Takara, Daryl Mat fvvafas. ga, Q... The Waipahu High School Golf Team was captained by Kyle Watanabe and Eric Kaya. This young team performed well under the guidance of Coach Torn Haioka who stressed basic golf, sportsmanship, and loyalty. The highlight of the year was the expectation that several members of the team were well on their way to qualify for the Individual Championships. Also a five member team was chosen to represent Waipahu High School at the 12th Annual State Tournament at Kuilima, Kahuku. Special awards were presented to the following players: Best Performance - Elton Sakaino and Clayton Amuro Most Promising Rookie - Daryl Matsuda Outstanding Spirit and Leadership - Eric Kaya The Player of the Year went to Kyle Watanabe. Kyle partici- pated for four years on the team. He has captained the team for two years. Over the years his skill and dedication to the sport has improved and has served as an inspiration to his team . The success of this year's team was indeed a team effort.
