FOREWORD All THE WORlD'S A STAGE. Attracted by these words we of the Ka Mea Ohi staff have worked to produce this year's annual. Here, with- in its pages are our efforts to portray school life as compared to the production of a play. The setting of this performance is the Waipahu High School campus, leading roles are enacted by the Seniors, support- ing roles are played by the Junior, Sophomore, and Freshman classes, the whole play is produced by the faculty and administration, and is under the direction of the Student Government. It is hoped that our theme, The Theatre, will be carried out to you clearly and lnspmngly and that lt will help to instill in you the importance of proper attitudes and cooperation necessary to yield a suc cessful play We feel that this book to the Seniors especially will be a valuable reminder of the completion of their first mayor play in life and the in splratuon for many more yet to come ww 6? elk X A 5 5 do Q W .M EX ag!' m H I M, e,

DEDICATION ,W sf A6 se iffy! Q The Ka Mea Ohi stat? proudly dedicates this yearbook to an outstanding Teacher of Waipahu High School - Miss Blanche Mayes. Miss Mayes came to Waipahu High in l945, and has been on the administra- tive staff serving as head of the English Department ever since. We feel that she has constantly and dilligently strived to up- hold and to instill within her students the cherished standards to which Waipahu High School is dedicated: TO THE GROWTH OF SOUND MINDS AND SOUND BODIES: TO CHARACTER BUILDING, SPORTSMAN- SHIP, AND FAIR PLAY, TO INDUSTRY AND THE WILL TO SUCCEED, TO FRIENDLINESS -THE SPIRIT OF ALOHA, TO THOUGHT- FUL CONCERN FOR THE COMMON GOOD, TO LOYALTY AND THE LOVE OF COUN- TRY, TO THE BOYS AND THE GIRLS OF TODAY, TO THE MEN AND THE WOMEN OF TOMORROW. We, the students, owe our utmost thanks and gratitude to Miss Blanche Mayes, a fine teacher, a wonderful person, and a loyal friend always.
