Highlights of the cruise for the Operations Officer came on both the personal and professional fronts. On the personal front, his wife Jo gave birth to Julie Kathrine McMurtrie on July 31. On the professional front, LT McMurtrie became LCDR McMur- trie during the cruise. Two major op- erations took up a great deal of time. The first was Exercise Seawind with the Egyptians. The second was Dis- play Determination. THE WORLD OF XEROX - LCDR McMurtrie shares a joke after another fantastic voyage into the xerox machine. MURPHY CHAPLAIN For LCDR Murphy, the cruise marked the first time he had been away from his wife during 19 years of marriage, which was one of the most difficult things about the de- ployment.
