Gracing the pe-ning Pa es of Uur Yearbook Are Two of Waianae I-IigI1's utstanding Students: Mr. and Miss Ke Ahe Kai James Corn and Patricia Okabo When asked to describe himself in one word , kind was his reply and everyone who knows Jimmy Corn will have to agree with him. Jimmy is an out- going, sensitive, and warm individual, His talent for making friends and his past achievements here at Waianae High School have won for him the coveted title of Mr, Ke Ahe Kai, Athletically versatile, Jimmy has participated in football, wrestling, and track proving himself out- standing in all fields, Jimmy is a real team player and has always displayed sportsmanship, determination, and above- all, -pride in all of his undertakings., As a senior Jimmy was awarded the honor of being chosen one of the football captains. Leadership is certainly one of Jimmy's excellent qualities as his Junior class indicated by electing him as class president. Jimmy has also served as class rep- resentative in addition to having been a member of the Lettermen's Club, Hawaii Upward Bound, and the, Drama Club, Our Mr. Ke Ahe Kai has also proven himself on stage as he sang his way through the drama club 's production of Swinging High . Jimmy 's multiple in- terests will certainly insure for him success in the ca- reer of his choice. 55 Pat Okabe, a very -friendly young lady and this year's choice for Miss Ke Ahe Kai, has always been active in a wide array of activities. In her freshman year, she served as a committee member of the Freshmen Social as well as treasurer of the Science Club, In her sophomore year she helped to lead her class as class secretary, but did not neglect the Science Club as she served as secretary for the year. She was also a member of the Senate, PAAC, publicity committee, and a number of other sopho- more committees. Again helping to lead her class, she was elected to the office of treasurer in her junior year, She also strived to produce a successful Junior Prom by working on the Junior Prom committee, Homecoming of that year saw her working long and hard on the Junior class float, which was part of her duties as a member of the float committee. Displaying confidence in Pat's leadership abilities, her Senior class voted her in as class president, She has represented her school by visiting other schools as part of the interschool relations committee, In any- thing Pat has done she has brought pride to Waianae High School, It is with confidence that we say Pat will enjoy many more successes and will forever be a source of pride for Waianae High.
