'Dog Patch' This year's musical 'Lil Abner was said to be a success by director John Lauber and the cast members. The cast was led by Suzi Latham and Rick Grasmick in the respective parts of Daisy Mae and 'Lil Abner. 'Lil Abner is a musical about Sadie Hawkins Day and a situation about our modern day society. 'Lil Abner took place in a town called Dogpatch' which was supposed to be blown up by an atomic bomb. But when it was discovered that Dogpatch had a historical sight, the town was saved. Although it's hard to cast a large play with a small enrollment, the crowd was pleased with the characterization of the members. The audience especially enjoyed the scene when 'Lil Abner announced his secret love for Daisy Mae and made her break her engagement to Earthquake (Jared Ketner). 18

The spring play, The Curious Savage, was a great success. This show was done as a dinner theater, the first time ever in the history of Wahoo High's dramatic productions. The cast of eleven players worked well together and put on a fine show. Directed by Mrs. Dillow, this comedy took place in an insane asylum. The characters varied from delightfully innocent to harsh and cruel. Ethel Savage, whom the story is about, was committed by her children for spending her 10 million dollar fortune in ways they thought absurd. The play reached its climax when Mrs. Savage revealed to her children, her doctor, and her friends in the asylum that her money had been hidden inside her teddy bear all along. Another first occurred in this production. Someone from the outside assisted Mrs. Dillow. This someone was Kerry Hall, who helped the entire cast and crew along with Mrs. Dillow in every aspect of the production. In short, the production of The Curious Savage in the arrangement of a dinner theater was a hit. The play was enjoyed by all who attended.
