Duet Acting Places Runner-Up At Conference t •— MAT DMJl PEMBEB ► Judy Rogers and Nicole Austin placed runner-up at the Capitol Conference Speech Contest in Duet-Acting with a very high Superior. Nic portrayed the Southern-belle Amanda, and Judy played her shy little daughter Laura in their reversion of The Glass Menagerie. At Districts, Judy and Nicci received a disappointing II . In Humerous Prose, Sandra Rogers performed a series of pieces from Erma Brom-beck's, If Life is a Bowl of Cherries, What am I Doing in the Pits. Sandra received an Excellent at Conference and at Districts. Dan Thompson was the Extemporaneous speaker for the team. He also received Ex-cellents at Conference and at Districts. In Informative Speaking, Jennifer Evers received a Good rating at Conference and an Excellent at Districts. Jennie spoke on the fads and ballyhoo's of the Roaring 20's. Judy Rogers entered the competition again in Oral Interpretation of Poetry. Her theme this year was Delight. Judy received an Excellent at Conference and a Good at Districts. Suzi Latham received an Excellent at Districts for her performance of Humorous Prose. The 1984 Speech Team was coached by Mrs. Beverly Hudson.

Swing Choir Wins Superior The 1983-84 Chorus and Swing Choir, under the direction of Bob Arp, had a very successful year in both group and individual performances. The Swing Choir sang for numerous churches, civic organizations and clubs, as well as graduation and the athletic banquet. The group received a superior at the District Music Contest. The Chorus gave six performances during the 1983-84 school year. Wahoo received two superiors at the District Music Contest. Tori Dillow and Chris Johnson performed I Sing the Body Electric” for their first place. A quartet made up of Tori Dillow, Dave Seibel, Ann Divis, and Chris Johnson performed In the Gloaming,” which also received a superior.
