650 Attend 'Oklahoma' Play This year's musical “Oklahoma” drew a total attendance of 650 people from Nov. 3-5. The lead roles of “Curly” and “Laurey” were played by Dan Thompson and Susie Laudenback. The quality of the show and actors contributed to the show's success, stated Director Bob Arp. The play was set in the Oklahoma territory just prior to statehood. Some of the other major roles played were: Aunt Eller Ann Divis, Ado Annie Carla Nyberg, Will Chris Johnson, Jud Mark Simonson, Ali Hakim Darrin Pad, and Andrew Rick Grasmick. The production staff, led by student director Christi Carr, included Bob Arp, Bill Reece, Susie Christensen and Joie Christensen. Students participating in the orchestra were: Carolyn Fujan, Kim Tex-el, Jayne Wageman, Elizibeth Johnson, Sharon Carlson, and Brian Lubker. A broad spectrum of students participated in the successful production of Oklahoma . 9

Duet Acting Places Runner-Up At Conference t •— MAT DMJl PEMBEB ► Judy Rogers and Nicole Austin placed runner-up at the Capitol Conference Speech Contest in Duet-Acting with a very high Superior. Nic portrayed the Southern-belle Amanda, and Judy played her shy little daughter Laura in their reversion of The Glass Menagerie. At Districts, Judy and Nicci received a disappointing II . In Humerous Prose, Sandra Rogers performed a series of pieces from Erma Brom-beck's, If Life is a Bowl of Cherries, What am I Doing in the Pits. Sandra received an Excellent at Conference and at Districts. Dan Thompson was the Extemporaneous speaker for the team. He also received Ex-cellents at Conference and at Districts. In Informative Speaking, Jennifer Evers received a Good rating at Conference and an Excellent at Districts. Jennie spoke on the fads and ballyhoo's of the Roaring 20's. Judy Rogers entered the competition again in Oral Interpretation of Poetry. Her theme this year was Delight. Judy received an Excellent at Conference and a Good at Districts. Suzi Latham received an Excellent at Districts for her performance of Humorous Prose. The 1984 Speech Team was coached by Mrs. Beverly Hudson.
