Girls Finish Year With Three Wins By far this was the most highly motivated and skilled group I have ever worked with, reflected coach Mary Stefanowicz on her 1980 varsity volleyball squad. The team got off to a slow start, losing its first six in a row, until a win against Arlington foreshadowed things to come. The Warriorettes finished impressively strong, defeating their last three regular season opponents, including fierce area rival Mead. Beating Mead and finishing fourth in Conference were the two biggest highlights of the year for the girls. Receiving individual honors were: Cheryl Koranda - All Capitol Conference, Wahoo All Area 1st Team; Dawn Jansen and Jami Smith - Wahoo All Area Honor Roll.

Senior Leadership Guides Warriors A young Wahoo Warrior football squad suffered a 3 and 6 season during their 1980 campaign. Dave Prokesh, Jeff Norenberg, and Bill Hancock were chosen as All Conference defensive players, while sophomore John Hansen was selected to the Honorable Mention squad as a halfback. The Warrior's averaged 230 yards per game and held their opponents to 220 yards a game defensively. Turnovers, coupled with injuries to many key players, caused the squad problems all year long. Jeff Norenberg, before being injured at David City, provided great emotional support and leadership, while Dave Prokesh remained consis-tant in his offensive performance throughout all nine games. tVAHlI
