Clubs Lack Student Support Although the clubs at WHS lacked student support and involvement, they initiated many worthwhile and entertaining functions. The 1980-81 W-Club which was composed of all varsity athletics letter winners, sponsored the annual All Sports Banquet featuring guest speaker Moe Iba. In addition they also put on the prestigious W-Club Wrestling Tournament and provided concessions at many other athletic activities. This years W-Club officers were: Linda Little, President; Paul Lindgren, Vice President; Jeff Norenberg, Treasurer; Peggy Matson, Secretary; and Billy Hancock, Sgt. at Arms. A large Fine Arts Fair topped off the activities of this year's Art Club. All major Shop, Home Ec. and Art projects were put on display to the public. Also, this club put on an art show at West Ward and held their annual cake raffle. Art Club officers were: Lorie Dockweiler, President; Jeff Hudkins, Vice President; Benita John, Secretary; and Barb John, Treasurer. Spanish Club's major activity this year was their annual taco party. Most of the members attended and enjoyed themselves, except for a few who slightly overindulged on the sauce, (hot) 26 students in our school obtained and held a 3.5 grade average or better for the last semester of 1980 and the first semester of 1981 to become members of the Scholastic Club. 2

Arena Staging, Cruiser Set Help Comedies Anything Goes, a comedy written by Cole Porter, takes place upon an ocean cruiser. The two leads, Billy and Reno (played by Ray Stoupa and Joie Christensen) board the ship together. Following closely afterward are Sir Evelyn (Tim Govaerts) and Hope (Letti Torrens). The play begins like a soap opera, however, has a happy ending as Billy and Hope end up in love with Sir Evelyn and Reno also falling in love. You Can't Take It With You, a Pulitzer Prize award winning play by Hart and Koffman, was presented by Mrs. Dillow's speech and drama class in the spring. The theme of the play was built around the theory that life is a full time thing to. be enjoyed to the utmost. The play was unique in that the setting was an arena setting, with the audience completely surrounding the actors.
