Superiors, Colorado Make Exciting Year The band ended their year by participating in the Festival of the Rockies held in Colorado, competing in the concert band contest. Everyone left Wahoo Thursday evening, May 24 and arrived in Denver Friday morning to go on the “Walking tour of Denver . The band stayed at the “YMCA of the Rockies” in Estes Park. Saturday was an active day, with contest performance, and the Awards Banquet and Dance in the evening. Wahoo received a 24-rating and also a silver metal. This was the highest rating given to any band at the festival. Everyone spent Sunday at Elitchs Gardens Amusement Park and headed home Sunday night. The year was a good one not only because of the trip but because of the band’s success in receiving a superior rating in Pershing Marching Contest and District Concert Band Contest. A change made by director Bill Baumert was to get a graduation picture from each senior in band. These will all be put up together in the bandroom.
