We all have been involved in this very exciting school year, 1971-1972. Therefore we have tried to capture, through pictures, a fragment of the memories the year has held for each of us. We knew when we started that we couldn’t capture each and every little memory the year has held. Many meaningful things should have been recorded in the corners of the mind rather than in pictures. These can be even more lasting. We have, in the past few “golden” pages, set down in pictures sort of a summary of the year. We invite you to take a casual look at what follows . . . 16

What are Bill, Barb, Carol, and Sam. the senior class officers, doing out on the ledge? it was a good year. . . The Class of ‘72 entered the halls of WHS on the morning of August 30, 1971. From that moment on, there was never a dull moment. Although it took a few weeks to get used to books and studying, the new seniors pulled through in marvelous scholastic shape. Fall brought to the seniors an aura of fun filled days. Game days were filled with the anxiety and anticipation that only football season can bring. Chants and cheers echoed through the halls all day. Never short on ideas, the senior Pep Club girls not only planned skits for pep rallies, but went so far as to paint the streets of the town on Homecoming Eve to stir up spirit. The crisp autumn days kept everyone in good spirits. The onslaught of white winter days brought many activities into the already busy schedules of many seniors. Basketball and wrestling kept evenings full of vigorous activity for many boys and a lot of fans. Play practice kept avid drama students in their artistic element. Time and need of preparation saw many senior annual staff members working long hours to meet their deadlines. With the arrival of spring came the usual cases of “senioritis.” The warm days saw both girls and boys running after school for track. Golf team members invaded the course inpractice for their meets. Along with the always widely varied activities, many students found themselves involved with preparation for District Music and Speech contests. With May fast approaching, the Class of‘72 made plans to leave WHS behind. Their class treasury was used for the weight machine. Baccalaureate was held May 21, and graduation followed on the 22nd, as the seniors bid WHS a fond farewell. 18
