The students of Wahkiakum High School lost not only a capable and devoted teacher, but a true friend. At the time of his death, Mr. Davis was an instructor of industrial arts, art and mechanical drawing. He initiated these classes in 1966 when he first came to Cathlamet to teach. At that time there had only been two shop classes available. His life has served as an example to usg for besides being a teacher, he was a talented artist who may well have aided future generations of prospective talent in the nurturing of their creativity. Let this man be an inspiration to all of us. 5 4,1 .q-nnllllf I -gd-gfwl ffl' ADMINISTRA TIUN IN THE OFFICE Superintendent: Mr. James A. Spooner As our year moves on, many of us at Wa-Ki-Hi- have begun to realize that each moment of life is precious and we cannot always put off to the future the things we hope to accomplish. It is my hope that all of us will take advantage of each moment of each day to not only improve our lives, but to make our school and our community a productive and happy place to be. Principal: Mr. George S. King Today, as you read this, some of you have grad- uated and others are looking forward to graduation. In years to come you might well be looking your an- nual over again and doing some reflective thinking. About the enjoyable experiences here at Wahkiakum High School and about other experiences which were more difficult. I hope that you have enjoyed your years here and have profited by your experiences. The life style that you select shall remain with you for many years Select your life style with care so that you might be better able to contribute to mankind. Remember that there is a place for you in the pro- ductive world and that you should continue your edu- cation in Whatever field or endeavor. Seated: Mrs. Bacon. SENIURS GO TO OCEAN SHORES A gathering at the food table. The annually planned Senior Sneak this year took the seniors of 1972 to Ocean Shores. A ten-car caravan left Cathlamet at 7:00 on the morning of May 3. Arriving at Ocean Shores, the group immediately dispursed, giving everyone the opportunity to explore their destiny. Joining together again around noon, Mr. Kerstetter and Mr. Beck had the honors of preparing a delicious barbecue hotdog and hamburger lunch. Again the seniors joined in groups and Walked down the sunny beach, rented bicycles, or just cruised around the area in their cars. Leaving at 3:00, the cars were allowed to go their own speed along the freeway home, arriving back in Cathlamet around 7:00 that evening . in-5 ,Q 4 ui x il 5 QQ 3 13 ' 5 EQ H P3 Vg ff f fx Q5 s 9 ' O ' Richard Avalon receives Crown Scholarship. There was the traditional gift exchange among the students and faculty. For the first time, organizations within the school were re- X sponsible for decorating a door of a specific 3 building downtown. Money awards were pre- sented for three best doors. Winners were Girls' League, W-Club and Debate. The party began at 12:45 on December 23 with the pre- sentation of Santa and Mrs. Claus. A skit was put on by members of the Senior class and gifts were handed out by Student Council members. What could I be getting? M. b ki Seniors provide entertainment.
