Deutscher Verein The Deutscher Verein, founded twenty-seven years ago by Dr. DeWaIsh, is the oldest language club on the Wagner College campus. The aim of the Verein is to cultivate student interest in under- standing the traditions and ways of the German people. The highlight ofthe year was the popular Weih- nachtsfest in which most of the students participate. The Christmas decorations and cheerful attitude made it a tremendous success. The group's other activities throughout the year were met with great response, particularly the tradi- tionally-German off-campus meetings. Officers President . . .... ELIZABETH HAMANN ln the past year the Deutscher Kreis continued its activities toward the aim of bringing an increased number of members to a greater understanding of German traditions. Its functions consisted of ex- cursions to New York, presentation ot films con- cerning ancient and modern Germany, and, of course, the popular Weihnachtstest which has be- come a tradition dear to the hearts of all Wagnerians. In these activities the Kreis worked in close co- operation with the Deutscher Verein, its brother organization.

True to its general aims it has offered lectures by members and guests, dramatic sketches, films, both educational and entertaining, as well as practice in group singing and conversation.
