JOAN i-iARRisoNi A rA A cARoLYN,HoNi5,YcuTT - rrrr ' rrsilrr - rrr to JSZQN riii OPS lrLr Alpha Delta Pi, the oldest sorority in the United States, was founded on May 15, 1851, at Wesleyan College, Macon, Georgia. ln 1904, the sorority became a national organization, and there are now approximately eighty-two chapters throughout the United States and Canada, Gamma Pi Chapter ot Alpha Delta Pi, formerly the local sorority, Tau Lamba Chi, turned national on May 6, 1950, having the distinction of being the first national sorority on the Hill. Other social events during the year in- clude rush socials, and group trips to football and basketball games. Meeting frequently with the alumni, the fraternity maintains close ties to them. May is highlighted for the brothers by Sigma Day, when many of the alumni brothers return to the campus to renew old acquaintances, meet new brothers and attend the annual convention of Sigma brothers, past and present. Sigma is proud of its strong feeling of Brotherhood, where everyone remains an in- dividual and freedom of expression is of para- mount importance. Every year as another group of brothers join the ranks of the alumni, they leave confident in the knowledge that the younger brothers will carry on the fraternal spirit and make Wagner proud of its oldest fraternity. high scholastic index, to perpetuate friend- ships, and to foster a feeling of cooperation with the ideals ofthe College. During the school year, the chapter has undertaken many and varied activities. The highlight of the year for the chapter was the annual dance which was held at the Fort Wads- worth Officers' Club. As a community service, the sorority sponsored a Christmas party for the children at the Bethlehem home. ln addition to sorority activities, the mem- bers take part in other 'extra-curricular activi- ties at Wagner.
