Drum Maio' HO BHD ward Vande' Band leadi Home , de. comm! Paw The Wagner College Band contributed once again to the spirit of Wagner College. Spirited music and intricate marching maneuvers were the Band's important additions to the colorful festivities that accompanied all of the Seahawk football games. Marching under the baton of Drum Major Howard Pender, the group was ably led by Professor Harald Normann, who planned and directed the Bandis performances. 79

Choir The Wagrier Choir, reorganized in September, 1946, under the direction of Professor John Bainbridge, has since become one of the most cohesive and spirited organizations on the campus. In january 1950, under the direction of Dr. Sigvart Steen, it embarked on an eighteen day, iive state tour which resulted in the moulding of an organization which astounded audiences and critics with its sincerity, intonations and musi- cal ability. Newspaper critics acclaimed the choir as one of the finer singing organizations, comparable to the traditional fine college choirs of the middle-west Reviewers used such phrases as, An amazingly flawless presentation . . . enriching and inspiring experience . . . a perfect ensemble, in describ- ing the concerts sung before capacity houses. As well as meeting in rehearsal live periods a week each of the members is enrolled as a voice student and several of last years' beginners are now performing soloists. During Ian- uary and February 1951, the choir undertook the longest tour in its history, presenting concerts of a-cappella sacred music before capacity audiences in such cities as: Washington, Baltimore, Pittsburgh, Reading, and Waterbury and in many other smaller cities. Possessing an amazing espirit de corps and working under the talented direction of its famed director, the Wagner Choir is looking forward to many successful seasons and it is ex- pected that the coming years will see the choir traveling greater distances by popular request.
