2 W ' The Deutscher Verein strives to cultivate in the student, an understanding of the tradi- tions and folkways of the Germanic peoples. To achieve this goal, the society holds Kneipe meetings, excursions to New York, and its Weihnachtsfest, which has become a tradi- tion dear to the hearts of all Wagnerians. This year marked the twenty-fifth anniver- sary of the organization. Founded by Dr. De- Walsh, it has been capably quided by him through the years. D ffm During the past year, the Deutscher Kreis, the women's club for German speaking stu- dents, continued its activities with an increased number of members. Its regular meetings again consisted ot singing, and discussions aimed at encouraging the study and apprecia- tion of the German language and culture. The highlights of the year were the Goethe Bicentennial Festival in October, l949, and the annual Weihnachtsfest, the Christmas party in the German tradition. 'GU' ,-4161 The Art League was organized in the Spring of i949 under the guidance of Professor Warren Robinson of the Art Department. The League has sponsored art exhibitions here on the Campus.
