The Wagner College Chess Club, the first successful chess club ever formed on the cam- pus, has grown from the original five members to an enrollment of twenty-six active members. The chess team under the auspicges of the club has shown great promise this year. The chess club is not only known on the campus but it has received recognition from President . . Vice President . Treasurer . . Secretary . . . - the world famous Staten Island Chess Club. lt has also been recognized by some of the lead- ing colleges on the eastern seaboard. After careful planning the Chess Team of Wagner College has formed an intercollegiate chess league with three other colleges, Hofstra, Cooper Union and Drew University. 2 ,, The Wagner College Block W Club is made up of those students who have their var- sity letter. The ideals of the organization are to promote better sportsmanship, more'school spirit and the increased active participation by the student body in varsity and intramural sports. During the football season the W Club OFFICERS President . . . . . , , Vice President . Secretary . . Treasurer . . ll published a program for all home games. Operation of the concession stand during the baseball and football seasons also came under the jurisdiction of the W Club. The second annual dinner was held during the spring term at which time the new honor- ary members were brought into the club. Herb Sutter is faculty adviser of the group.
