adazfegaczazfff THE Varsity Debating Team, consisting ot Omar Gjerness, Vincent Baxter, Frank Jordan and James Kelly compiled a great record for Wagner College in the field of forensics this year. Two state tours, one through Pennsylvania and the other through Virginia, highlighted the activity of the team. Gjerness and Baxter represented Wagner in both trips and won every debate. Included in the wake of the orators were Muhlenberg, Swarthmore, Lehigh Uni- versity, William and Mary, Richmond University and Randolph-Macom College. These escapades out of Metro- politan New York gave Wagner a place of high esteem and recognition as a top school in debate. The reputation of Wagner debaters is established as a good one. Along with actual intercollegiate debating, Wagner's Debating Society sent representatives to many discussions and forums out of Collegiate circles, including the Ameri- can Council for Democracy and the United Nations Forum Group. 4, Q, 3 s x t, . 1 X. . s-f ' 1 ll x it Q I , '-'Ex ,P I . wwf WAGNER COLLEGE CHAPTER-STUDENT AFFILIATE AMERICAN CHEMICAL SOCIETY AT the beginning of the fall semester l949, the Wagner College Chemistry Society officially became a student affiliate chapter of the American Chemical Society. The purpose of the society is to further the interest of the students in chemistry and related fields, and also to enable the students to broaden their views through exchanging of ideas. The program of the society consists of student lec- tures, field trips and guest speakers. The organization has taken trips to well known laboratories to observe industrial precision methods and technique. The society has had such speakers as Dr. Kuna, Chief Biochemist of Halloran Hospital. - The hope of the Society is to become an enduring and informative group in the life of Wagner College.
