' W mia HMM u . ,,,,. 'Fha EFUWW lH - W i i ra iti ns Even before the year begins, the Grizzly Fever glows through the school as traditions handed down throughout the years. As the stu- dents arrive, they al- ready know the two basic traditions RED and GRIZZLY BEARS. These can be seen everywhere in the school. Besides these, a special tradi- tion comes every fall, Homecoming. The tradition begins when the first per- son is asked out. The bonfire, the crown- ing of the queen, the game, and finally the dance create memo- ries to last a life time. The football season also holds the tradi- tional victory bell game between Us and Norton. Besides the football oriented traditions, many oth- er traditions mold the student body. The freshman are ex- posed to orientation, class officer elec- tions and the eleva- tor pass. The sophomores have their class rings and Drivers' Ed. juniors face magazine sales to pay their way. to junior Banquet. Fi- nally, the senior year is filled with tradi- tions. Seniors have the commons to study in, comp pa- pers to write, the rock toqpaint, the se- nior prank and flick day to scheme, the breakfast to eat, the prom to enjoy, and finally graduation to celebrate. Through- out the years every class and every stu- dent has come to know the traditions which make WHS what it is. Q .1',,,. At that time, the queen is an- nounced and the fever for the weekend begins. Above: The courtyard at WHS has seen many changes in the history of WHS, but it still remains. the courtyard is an unique feature which sets WHS apart from the others. Although tradi- tions make WHS what it is, the changes happening in and around WHS make it what it will be. In the past year, many changes have taken place. These changes have in- creased the fire burning in the halls of WHS. The city it- self has had many changes. The down town has been reno- vated into an old IEfllfil WEE fashion town square complete with little horsey hitching posts. The school has also gone under some of its own ren- ovations. In the past year, the school has added a brand new library and a new bi- ology lab. It has also painted many rooms in the school. These new additions have added to the fever at WHS pride forces changes to improve the school. Besides the additions to the school, the fever of change found its way into the sports arena where WHS switch to a new confer- ence-the Suburban League--and hired a new football coa- ch-Mr. Hall. These changes have encouraged and intensified the fire in the veins of the students. Other changes have also created a fever. This fever has taken form as friction between administration and the student body. Both new dress code and state mandate extension of the se- nior year have Top Right: Downtown Wadsworth has changed to an old fashion decor. Changes in WHS have caused both positive and negative flames which have in- creased the fever in WHS. Above: These Bud men are now illegal in WHS. Due to a change in dress code. Any clothing sug- gesting alcohol, drugs, or sex can not be worn to school. Right: Early this year, con- struction of the new li- brary and new entrance was still in the process. 4?
