One of the most distinguished assembly speakers of the year was George Thomas member of British Parliament Jack Barnard the Wadsworth INFL president serxed a master of ceremonies that day Here we see Mr Work performing the introductions before the start of the assembly As Pat Perkins watches Mr Holmes records Hans Scherners Voice of Democracy speech Pat won the local contest for tenth eleventh and twelfth grades Hans was the XKIHDCI' in the freshman division Natlonal F orensle League Bright and early on a typical Saturday morning during the winter, a sleepy eyed but eager group of N F L members gath ered at the school to set off for a speech tournament The tournaments which formed a large part of the organization s activity provided not only competitive experience in public speaking but also many polnts toward N FL degrees For the first time in many years Wadsworth entered a debate team in these tourna ments Certain members also had the privilege of attending the Student Congress mod eled after our national Congress Special distinction was won by Larry Spice, who received the Silver Medal for Superior Senator NFL was very active locally too Again this year in the Prince of Peace Contest It had a county winner Hans Scherner who went on to place second in the district The two outstanding projects of NFL at Wadsworth High were put ting on the traditional Recognition As sernbly in May and sponsoring the first all school play Wadsworth has had in four years ROW 1 Stull Barden Harter Pray Hensal Weltzien ROW 2 Mr Holmes Perklns Brock Scherner Giffin Barnard CPres1dentJ ROW3 Janes Raynor Manske Spice Stuhrke Stone
