'e-r Excifin sports contests Each year the football team meet to elect their homecoming queen. This year they chose a very worthy and deserving girl, Joan Kahl. Attractive, active in extra-curricular affairs. and a better-than-average student, Joan is typical of the ideal senior girl. he: The Homecoming Queen, Joan Kahl. and her attendants start their traditional ride out to the stadium in an open-top convertible. Although it is a thrilling experience for the girls, it is also a chilly one, as the temperature is often quite low. Attempting to pass down court. it Mr. Schrock's second-period math class de- cided their homeroom needed some decorations at Christmas timeg the result of their energy was a much-transformed classroom. Here we see Patty Pate and Lucille Allen putting the finishing touches on their modernistic Christ- mas tree. The P.T.A. Thrift Shop has grown rapidly since it opened last April. Mrs. Harry Yeaman, the president of the P.T.A. Council, is one of the energetic volunteers who operate the store to earn money for scholarships and the school library. Urganized activities took up Thc boys' octet or 'tSerenaders entertain W H S audiences at concerts with their easy- going, harmony. Their favorites include popu- lar numbers like Standing on the Corner 'md The Banana Boat Song. On her daily round of the building to collect attendance slips, Janie Rohrer gets a quick glimpse of her friends hard at work in sixth- period English class. 1
