30 PROPHECY Flash! This is Marje Thomas with your midday interest story from Mars. Exactly one thousand years ago a group of about four score left the portals of that small establishment of learning-Wadsworth High School-on Earth. Through a maze of twists and turns of fate every one of those are now residing and busily occupied here in the town of Hawdstrow. Our Mayor, John Gehman, announced that Charley Earr's symphony orchestra would be a highlight of the millennium celebration. Adrian Morri- son, the historian. will give a talk, telling in detail the story of John Postak's discovery of the everlasting youth serum which he has administered to all of our class and many more, enabling them to be among those in our new world. Jac Blough. coaching the Martian pro-football squad, the Grid-eers, with his line coach, Virginia Slaughter, led the team through an undefeated season last year. The line of this team is: L. E. Mary Lou Arman, L. T. Mary Rose Jones, L. G. Donna Holderbaum, C. Jean Boyer, R. G. Becky Oplinger, R. T. Margaret Bodley, R. E. Bonnie Brader. ln the backfield we find Pat Seifert at the quarterback spot, Lilley Weaver at left half, Grace Rossman, who caught two-hundred and twenty-seven of Lilley's passes in the 2045 season, seventy-two for touchdowns, occupies the right halfback spot. Despite this scoring fantasy by Grace, Merle Cartwright. the smashing fullback, was high scorer of the team with sixty-eight touchdowns, one hundred fifteen extra points in one hundred sixteen tries, and forty-two field goals for a total of six hundred and forty-nine points. Considering that under the watchful eye of trainer, Helen Dispenza, the team played twenty-two games without an injury or a sub- stitution, we may say that they are truly a set of iron women . A more esthetical view of this group finds Margaret Labik and Homer Baldwin directing the art museum: King Sears directing the civic choirg Jack Mueller giving piano recitals regularly throughout the solar system. Rose Snyder has been featured soloist on this program for many years as you all know: Chet Trouten's poetry and music is heard everywhere: Bill Rasor and Lois Nolf are at the head of the U. N. S. CUniversal News Servicej, and Fletcher Holcomb at the head of the Literary Guild. ln the commercial world we find Jack Hall director of commerce and owner of the Inter-Planetary Transportation System. Several of his executives are Tony Smith Cmechanical engineerj, Marcene Mackey fbookkeeperj, and Wanda McFadden Cadvertising departmentj. All of our industry bows to Ed Wilson. the magnesium magnate, whose chief engineer, Dick Wright, is largely respon- sible for his success. Eileen Smith and Ruth Simpson, his head chemists. have paved the way to many discoveries: Ruth Leatherman is his personnel manager. Homgr Figgug The 1945 Whzsperer
