Surely no one except the unusual Senior Class of l945 could make such a brazen statement without undue embarrassment. This class successfully survived a very busy Freshman year spent in roller skating, class parties, and learning the simple rules of survival in the school halls. It was during the Sophomore year an exceptional group of farmers from Centralized joined our ranks. Because of our cheering ability, our football team swept on to victory over Barberton for the first time in seventeen years. September of '43 found this class back with more confidence in its ability. The Hawaiian Night Club Prom far exceeded anything sponsored by any previous Junior class. And nowe-in l945 the Seniors find themselves a versatile, con- genial group with many members participating in every school activ- ity. The final school year was begun by an unusual hay ride fol- lowed by the 'Fall Fantasy and the Junior-Senior party. May our achievements be an inspiration, our memory a bene- diction. - 4- CLASS FLOWER CLASS COLORS Red Rose Green and Whz'te CLASS Morro Peace, Progress and Prosperity The 1945 Whiwefef Dick's Hardware, Inc. l Row I: Frances Allen Harry Bellamy lilden Bicksler l.ois Bird Norma Braucluer Norma Buckingham 20 ia wi I my ' V.. 4 ww ire, JV' K2 T J ? 3 9 my S as K .i Q in .wav -nm. 5, ,, 3 f , F W 1 rigi fam: 9 'Vw - in v. Exactly one thousand years ago a group of about four score left the portals of that small establishment of learning-Wadsworth High School-on Earth. Through a maze of twists and turns of fate every one of those are now residing and busily occupied here in the town of Hawdstrow. Our Mayor, John Gehman, announced that Charley Earr's symphony orchestra would be a highlight of the millennium celebration. Adrian Morri- son, the historian. will give a talk, telling in detail the story of John Postak's discovery of the everlasting youth serum which he has administered to all of our class and many more, enabling them to be among those in our new world. Jac Blough. coaching the Martian pro-football squad, the Grid-eers, with his line coach, Virginia Slaughter, led the team through an undefeated season last year. The line of this team is: L. E. Mary Lou Arman, L. T. Mary Rose Jones, L. G. Donna Holderbaum, C. Jean Boyer, R. G. Becky Oplinger, R. T. Margaret Bodley, R. E. Bonnie Brader. ln the backfield we find Pat Seifert at the quarterback spot, Lilley Weaver at left half, Grace Rossman, who caught two-hundred and twenty-seven of Lilley's passes in the 2045 season, seventy-two for touchdowns, occupies the right halfback spot. Despite this scoring fantasy by Grace, Merle Cartwright. the smashing fullback, was high scorer of the team with sixty-eight touchdowns, one hundred fifteen extra points in one hundred sixteen tries, and forty-two field goals for a total of six hundred and forty-nine points. Considering that under the watchful eye of trainer, Helen Dispenza, the team played twenty-two games without an injury or a sub- stitution, we may say that they are truly a set of iron women . A more esthetical view of this group finds Margaret Labik and Homer Baldwin directing the art museum: King Sears directing the civic choirg Jack Mueller giving piano recitals regularly throughout the solar system. Rose Snyder has been featured soloist on this program for many years as you all know: Chet Trouten's poetry and music is heard everywhere: Bill Rasor and Lois Nolf are at the head of the U. N. S. CUniversal News Servicej, and Fletcher Holcomb at the head of the Literary Guild. ln the commercial world we find Jack Hall director of commerce and owner of the Inter-Planetary Transportation System. Several of his executives are Tony Smith Cmechanical engineerj, Marcene Mackey fbookkeeperj, and Wanda McFadden Cadvertising departmentj. All of our industry bows to Ed Wilson. the magnesium magnate, whose chief engineer, Dick Wright, is largely respon- sible for his success. Eileen Smith and Ruth Simpson, his head chemists. have paved the way to many discoveries: Ruth Leatherman is his personnel manager. Homgr Figgug The 1945 Whzsperer PROPHECY Judge Robert Scholl heads one of the most elhcient law enforcement systems ever evolved. Attorneys Duke Shue and Doc Gilligan are the best to be had: Patrolwomen Doris Winkler and Betty Tryon keep our trafiic under control: Rosemary Madigan, the bailiff, keeps order in the courts. Notable in the military line is General Bob Henry who is never seen with- out his WAC secretaries, Janice Knecht and Ciwen Few. Donal Starling is his aeronautical expert. We are particularly proud of our able doctors, namely, Richard Weber and Willard Frase, who save many lives with their new discovery protodyanatein. The most prominent of our local merchants are Betty and Dale Kuhn who run the department store. Not to be ignored are Lillian Craig's drug store and Lois Harter's grocery store. Ed Earnest is a haberdashery proprietor. Henry Carrino is running a huge repair shop for rocket transports. Geanne Peeronis has a super self-service meat market. Members of a very strong ministerial association are Bob Russell, Andy Cooper, Weldon Gaugler, Carl Hartman, and Paul Gordon. Rev. Hartman and Rev, Cooper have been doing research lately to find a short route to heaven. Their inquiry has been fruitless as yet. The superintendent of schools is Donn Brintlinger. The principal of the high school is Frank Hilbert. Frank and Donn together have finally brought juvenile delinquency to a stand still, Head of the commercial department of the school is Faye Stuver, Teach- ing in that department are Delores Storm and Helen Messner. Margaret Means teaches the girls physical education. Faye Kreider is head of the English depart- ment: Mary James and Margaret Homonai are her assistants. Eleanor Fiscus is teaching calculus, trig, and geometry. Joan Auble teaches French and geog- raphy. Alida Anderson is head of one of the best nursing schools in the Solar System. Janet Blough and Betty Jo Ellis are heads of the speech department. Their debaters lost to a town on Jupiter last season but otherwise were very successful. Leota Mardis is teaching hygiene and biology. Darline Brogan teaches history and Janice Harry is the psychology teacher. Instructors in our vocational de- partment are Duane Kreider and Wayne Brubaker. Their boys and girls recently took a trip to Saturn to study industrial methods there. As you see, this class is still together-prosperous and very successful. In Lu VVadsw0rth Musical Activities The music organizations turned in an exceptional season, Their first con- cert was above par, the winter performance was proportionately better. A new high in entertainment was the Instrumental concert in April. Perform- ing to a packed house, the vocal concert featured the minstrel show by the Boys' Glee Club in May. Deserving particular recognition for work above and beyond the call of duty are the Harmonettes and Music Makers who performed at many school functions as well as more away from school. Unseen, but indispensable, the stage crew bore patiently throughout the year, staying to a late hour after every performance, not to mention time spent before and during concerts and plays.
