LANGUAGE French is important because we are gaining acloser relationship with French- speaking countries. Latin is no longer a spoken language, but it is very important to the student Since sixty per cent of our own language is derived from Latin. The study of Latin is vital to those who want to understand the literature of the Romans and to gain appreciation of the ancient culture which is the tap root of our society. French III students are ableto carry on l engthy dis- cussions, Studyinglessons provided for the students and listening to tape-recorded conversations help the students greatly. Sues sone French II students increase their knowledge by watching films provided for the school. 25

Students soon learn in Latin that it is not the first year. a dead Although the prime objective is com- munication, modern foreign language study seeks to include cultural knowledge and appreciation as time goes by. The lang- uage scholar can learn from the past while becoming a better citizen of the world. An appreciation of the life, the social and economic customs, and the civ- ilization of a nation are considered with an effort towards abolishing prejudices in the language department. , HEALTH Both boys and girls are taught good health habits in the Physical Education Department. They learn what daily ex- ercises are needed to keep their bodies physically fit and how to do them cor- rectly. They are also taught the funda- In health girls learn the functions of the different parts of the body, diseases andtheir causes, and how to take care of themselves with daily exer- cises.
