It seemed only yesterday that this curtain opened on our first day in high school. We often look back over our high school years now that they are almost over. Weseeourselves as carefree Freshmen, cocky Sophomores, and busy Juniors. As we look back, we see many different moods in our play and in its characters. We see sad moments and happy moments, carefree moments and serious moments, tense moments and relaxed moments. We See villains and heroes, quiet characters and rowdy characters, mischievous characters and serious characters. But even as the curtain is closing on this play, we are dimly aware that it is opening on another, the play of life itself. ESSE SG Secs cso ei commnmenen naps eimai abaSen tbe President.... Class Colors Yellow and White Class Flower Yellow Rose Class Motto Sow a thought, reap an act; Sow an act, reap a habit; Sow a habit, reap a character; Sow a character, reap a destiny. Class Song (Tune: I'm In the Mood for Love.) Now we must part dear friends But in our hearts we'll cherish Memories that never perish Over the many years. Things like our high school proms Ballgames in winter weather Things that will keep us together After we've said goodbye. You'll always be in our hearts Even tho' we're apart You'll never be forgotten Always you'll be With us you see. Now let us shed no tears Parting is such sweet sorrow Let us just dream of tomorrow So now, dear friends, goodbye. Mascots: Carol Molaro and Michael McLeod. Preparations for this great event kept the Juniors busy all year, but it was all forgotten in the enchantment of that wonderful night. Homecoming was full of much excitement. Cherie Covington repre- sented her class as the Junior attendant in the Queen's court. Other members of the class participated as cheerleaders, football players, sponsors, members of the band, and workers on float committees. Then came the time when the class rings came! What a proud and happy time that was for the members of our class when they arrived in the middle of the year. With the help of Donald Scott and Grover Smith, Coach Shelton soon had the boys in shape. After two weeks of hard practice the Tigers were ready to meet the Flying Eagles of Anson High whom they defeated by a score of 35-12. The slight margin in the score caused a great loss of determination and spirit, which did not reoccur until after the Tigers had lost the next six games. When the Tigers were preparing for their Homecoming game with Sanford you could tell by watching them practice that they were a much more determined and spirited team. This fact was much in evi- dence that Friday night in the Wadesboro park when the Tigers met the Yellow Jackets and were defeated by a very slight margin. For the next two weeks the Tigers continued to improve. On the final night of the season the Tigers defeated the Dunn Green Wave by a 21-0 score. Although the Tigers had good material this year they just couldn't get their team together until the last of the year. The Tigers ended the season with 2 wins, 8 losses, and 0 ties. 84 Cheerleaders, Varsity From LEFT TO RIGHT: Barbara Hildreth, Effie Tillman, Mary Katherine Potter, Elaine Brock, chief; Stevie Wagner, Barbara Smethie, Brenda Pesce The Varsity Cheerleaders met before school began to practice old cheers and to make up new ones. October 26, 1962, dawned as a day of great antici- pation. Thisday will long be remembered, especi- ally by those involved, as the biggest and best Homecoming ever. As inthe past, the Student Coun- cil was in charge of the activities. The traditional Homecoming Parade began promptly at 4:30 p.m. All the high school homerooms were represented by a distinguished float, all of which showed great originality. Gracing the spectacular parade also were sixteen of the loveliest girls in the school. All this added up to one of the largest and most colorful of all our homecoming parades. Promptly at 8:00 the ballgame with Sanford began. This was one of the most thrilling games ever ob- served. Inthe end the Tigers had won in every de- partment except the score. Mr. Wildermuth crowns Stevie Wagner. Homecoming cheerleaders lead Tigers onto field. Events One of the products of a week's work. One of the highlights of the game was the halftime performance in which the Homecoming Queen was crowned. Theband performed for a short time and then formed a circle into which all the attendants and sponsors were escorted onto the field. This led to the appearance of Miss Stevie Wagner, our Homecoming Queen and her crowning by Supt. W. L. Wilder muth. After the game, came the Homecoming Dance. For the first time, this dance was held in our new gym. Excellent decorations were designed and set up by Woody Huntley and his committee. Informal danc- ing, to the music of Aaron Hinson's Quintet, led to the delicious refreshments provided by the F. H. A. Club. Next came the feature dance in which the queen, attendants, sponsors, and senior football players were introduced. Atvarious intervals there were spotlight dances honoring all former gradu- ates. This day, this parade, this ballgame, and this dance will always be remembéred by those involved and the SLES wsags of 19 oe the greatest vets The goblins were the hit of the Homecoming Dance. We believe it fitting that the people who supplied the money for this year's Tiger Tales by means of ad- vertisements also be called angels. We, the Tiger Tales staff, would like to thank our angels very much for their support. 103 .
