Beauties on parade. HOMECOMING November 6, 1959—An air of exeitement filled the air. Former graduates of W.H.S. were home re- viving memories of past Homecoming activities. All the homeroom members were busy building floats for this gala event. The time for the parade to begin’ was drawing nigh. The band was ready, the floats were finally finished, the Football Sponsors were dressed in lovely evening dresses and sitting on con- vertibles. All along the parade route were heard “oh’s” and “ah’s” as the beautiful girls and artistic floats passed. The bonfire of excitement is kindled. Mrs. Mildred Johnson’s Junior homeroom pro- . 25 duced the winning float. The band played on. May I have this dance? ACTIVITIES The ballgame began at 8:00. The Tiger’s opponent was the Raeford Bucs. After a hard fought first half, the half time ceremonies began, the crowning of Miss Connie Buff as Homecoming Queen. After the Tigers marched back onto the field and even though they had a strong desire to win they couldn’t defeat the Bucs. The Homecoming Dance, which was sponsored by the Booster Club, was held in the Central School cafeteria and auditorium. The music was great, the food was delicious and a good time was had by all. Another Homecoming has passed, and we now have more memories for our diary. A good time was had by all despite the rain. The Queen and her Court. The Seniors will always remember their fabulous “Oriental Gardens,” the theme of the 1959 Junior-Senior Prom. What about it Seniors, wasn’t it the best one yet? The King and Queen of Boosters’ Night were Stokes Clarke and Judy Short who made the “long,” and the “short” of it. SPECIAL MEMORIES IN OUR DIARY Coach Bill Murray from Duke was the main speaker for the football banquet. Letters and gold footballs were given out and the following trophies were presented: Most Desire, Alan Baker; Best Blocker, Harold Bowers; and Most Valuable Player, Ken Huggins. 100 Some of the things that happened in the Cafe- teria during lunch were absolutely ridiculous weren’t they students.
