SENIOR CLASS PROPHECY The lights overhead were spinning round and round, and suddenly I found myself in a deep sleep. New surroundings came to focus. ner, Math teacher, Shirley Gatewood, English teacher, Mary Gathings, French Teacher, Hazel Horne, Home Economics teacher, and Rachel fuprer, Physical Education teacher. After taking out my keys and locking up Myo studio, I went to the air terminal, boarded the rocketship, and looked around«My first trip to Mars. How nice it would be to try my fashions on the pioneers of this planet. As I sat down in my seat I looked at my calen- dar. “My goodness ié it June 6, 19672” I thought. When I settled down, two lovely rocket hostess- es offered me pillows. As I thanked them, I realized that these girls were Marietta Ward and Edith Hutchinson, two of my school chums from “ole W.H.S.” Why I hadn't seen them in nearly ten years. I talked to the girls until duty called them. I learned fro m the talk that the pilot of the rocket was Tommy Redman with Hayward Morrison, co-pilot, What a coincidence! I also learned that the master minds, who designed and constructed the. rocket, were none other than Jerry Lovett, Lary Rogers, and Charles Hildreth. ' As my trip continued, someone turned on a portable T.V. set. I became interested in the program, which was “Music By Allen.” As I be- came ingrossed, I realized that the star was another old classmate, Missy Allen. During in- termission on the program I noticed the clever advertising and witty cartoons. Who had done such a good job? Of course, it was Benjy Bras- ington and Margaret Eddins, two more of my old school chums. Next on the iON schedule was a baseball game. As the game progressed, I found that Grady Carter was pitcher for the leading team and Richard Brower outfielder. on When I finally landed on Mars, I ame dately is began my tour of the planet. First. on my list. was a High School. There, to my surprise, I found Risden Hill, Libby Buff his secretary. V. W. Gardner was principal. Hildreth Noah Huffman, and Jennie Bet Tarleton. Burns, The photographer’ was next, an to my amaze- ment I found. Tommy Taylor’ with this occupa- tion. Katie, Robeson was his. very able assistant. Atra Publishing House. on down the street I found Sara Atkinson sebretary toa big executive, Ann Covington, Ondown the street I Saw “M and W” Grocery. ‘Tommy® Martin, and» Jobn Williams were the Prosperous proprietors, As my tour ‘continued, I saw a laboratory. I found that Flake Marsh, Jimmy Webb and Charles Tucker were inventing a new hydrogen bomb. Last, hue Not Bene on my tour was the “Fash- jon Center.” There I found lovely models, Janice Harrington, Peggy Welch, and Louise Tread- aways I met. again with my assistant Jean Faulk- ner, who had made the trip earlier to look over my hew business. Without Jean I'd be lost. She foresees. coming fashions, then I design. 26 “As” lights began to focus again, I saw my doctors Brent Mudd and Buck Kitchen, smiling nervously, Their assistant, Betsy Kiker, rubbed “Sy forehead, Anxious nurses Peggy Polson, the Superintendent with Margaret Kelly, and Doris Jones stood around. Had I been dreaming? Was I dreaming? Of course, I'd just had my tonsils removed.

Well Dressed Janice Harrington, Jean Faulkner, Lynwood Drye, and Flake Marsh were always spruced up for every gala occasion. Courteous “The days of chivalry are not dead,” says Hayward Morrison to Sara Atkinson, Doris Jones, and Pat Burns. Co-operative Mary Gathings, Carolyn Hildreth, Eugene Pegram, and Tommy Redmon agree that “a chain is as strong as its weakest link.” Sincere “To thine own self be true” was the motto of Libby Buff, Shirley Gatewood, V. W. Gardner, and Benjy Brasington. Athletic Anita) Hamer, Rachel Turner, Jimmy Webb, and Richard Brower went out for sports in a big way. 25
