sENloR PRCPHECYL China Spring, Texas November 16, 1976 Dear Ethel, Today when I got off for my lunch hour, I went to the polls in China Spring to vote. I guess you know Bennie Davis is running for President on the Demo- cratic ticket and Bobby Schreiber is running for Vice President. Oh yes, Mary Ann Newton is Bennie's manicurist. Shirley Cownover is our city's greatest politi- cian, man or woman. They were our old classmates back in '54. Oh-that brings back wonderful memories. Just think! You, my old girl friend, now a mother of eight children, marrying after our graduation when you went to see your sister in Idaho and met that rich potato farmer! When I was at the polls I met Sammy French and Mary Jo Thompson fnow Mrs. Sammy Frenchl. Sammy is the pastor of the China Spring's Baptist Church. Sammy said that John French is a famous bathing suit designer in Paris. Lynn French and Elsie Swinscoe are his models. Gal, I have a new iob. l'm working for Turkey Lindsey, He publishes 3-D funny books. James Carpenter is our best customer. I ran into Mrs. James Jackson IAnn Beardenl yesterday in Waco. She said she was Fred Ferguson's secretary. Fred Lee has a sports column in Waco Times Herald. He's really good at predicting the outcome of games. Ann also said Holyce Buzbee and June Hudson are Bob Baker's head nurses. Bob is Waco's most prominent physician. JoNelle Ellis is his secretary. Lenard Stuessel designed Bob's new hospital and Allison Burt and Paul Swanson erected it. Say, have you heard that new record that Carol Ann King and Bobby Bryant recorded? It is a dilly, that is, if you like hillbilly music. I went to the wrestling matches Monday night and guess who was wrestling? Mahattaio Mitchell! In the ring they call her Hotsy the Great. Her opponent was Bessie. Henderson. Scooter Benkendorfer is Hotsy's manager and Leon Stelter is Bessie's. My oldest daughter went down to enroll in Baylor this fall. She said Curtis Owen was the band director. He has the finest band Baylor has ever had. She said Thomas Porterfield was teaching psychology and Harold Shumate was teach- ing physical education. I was watching TV the other night over at Barbara Gauntt's house. Franklin Choate has a program with Bob Hope. It's called Father and Son. Barbara is married to a traveling salesman. I got an invitation from Barbara Wooley today. They're giving Marian Kunze ISchreiberD a house warming party. The Kunzes are iust moving into their twenty room mansion in Detroit. Frank Fuentes and Ronald Wilkerson finally finished Baylor this spning. They're fighting over Mr. Wood's place as civics teacher.
