Keeping the Post Alivev The year 1980 brings a new begin- ning-a year full of hope and antici- pation of the coming years. What does the future hold for us? Will in- ternational crises be resolved? Will domestic tensions be eased? Will the 80's be the dawn of the solar age? Will man finally learn to work alongs side his brother and in har- mony with his environment in order to survive? Endless questions are thrown at youth today. The 1980 graduates of Waco High may hold the answers. We are entering the adult world at a crucial time, The century is nearing its twilight just as we are reaching our new level of responsibility and participation in society. Our genera- tion, as the leaders of tomorrow, must use yesterday as a guide to an improved future. By studying the past, we can avoid the pitfalls of our forefathers. More importantly, we can use the successes and triumphs of past decades as the foundations from which our new age of peace and security will come. Because of this responsibility, be- cause our future is up to us, the theme for the 1980 Daisy Chain is Keeping the Past Alive . 4 C , 0 ll.. -s . w X 1,1 A n iifrihgue-ilivralh to End Rumor of WHS Ras.-r ugmmuuvs kemrr at an-uw mag 1 Umm Na N rvmmfmnltann ss Luv hucfrfsmasyt wwsswws sihrnuis'nea4'Sagoccas Rlghqmnean-mMN.kmrex Quuscsmmerwmzumu. Cathy Howard emerges from the egg as Dorian Mims and Darryl Porterfield watch Shurfie Toichelmfmn d0l'S SOVUU lletfll in amazement' thinking exercises. Traditional Winning Spirit Unbrolfen Here at Waco High, we are indeed Keeping the Past Alive'. By striving for the highest goals, we are pre- . serving the winning tradition of WHS throughout the year. In all areas, WHS has its superstars. Whether in the sports arena, the ac- ademic classroom, or the fine arts, WHS students have proved them- selves winnersvevery year. .. Even though attitudes and ideas have changed since the founding of Waco High, the winning spirit of the school of Waco has endured. We may dress, think, and act differently in 1980 than we did in 1910, and our school building may have changed on the outside, but inside our hearts, the Tigers will forever be keeping the past alive. Cheerleaders lenda Winningham and Phoebe Franco get ready to start the spirit train to Paul Tyson Field. l
