American Literature, English Literature, Southwest culture and humanitarian arts are some of its offerings. Practical English is offered as well as advanced placement. In lndustrial Arts class young men of WHS learn the tech- niques of designing and of the proper use and care of the various power-driven-wood-working machines. The department has courses in electricity, metalworking and drafting. Mr. Elden A, Werner, M.S., Kansas State College, is the supervisor ofthe industrial arts department at WHS, and of all the schools in the WISD. Other faculty members are Mr. Fritz Linnstaedter, B.S., Southwest State Teachers College, and Mr. J. H. Woods, B.S., East Texas State Univ. In the Homemaking Department students learn all phases of homemaking. In addition to learning the basics, students may take courses such as Home Management and Family Living in which they learn howto run the home and all the business involved in it. During the summer, WHS offers summer homemaking. This program serves as a continuation of the year's work by of- fering further opportunity for gaining skills related to homemaking activities. A Vocational Clinic-giving students the opportunity to attend school half a day and work in a related homemaking field the other half day-was begun this year. Students worked at hospitals and day care centers.
